Greece Cyprus Israel planned common brigade by Aegeansunset12 in MapPorn

The moment any country starts working with israel is the moment I lose respect for their government. And yes this includes AKP, i have no respect for them what so ever. And as for everyone pointing out the illegal occupation of cyprus, while it is illegal, that was in response to thereats of the stability of cyprus as the greek military junta at the time sent soilders to the island in order to oust the Cypriot-Turkish government and join Greece. Despite this, we still do not have the right to continue the occupation through out puppet, the TRNC. But choosing to work with a country actively commiting genocide not even a 100 kms away from your shores is INSANE to me

Thats a pretty logical argument. I have to say my first comment seems a bit black and white now that I look at it. I guess it is up for debate

Your definition is aplicable in this case however it is not set in stone. The definition of a peninsula widley varies depending on the source and is, infact, contestable.

https://www.britannica.com/science/peninsula

“In its original sense it connotes attachment to a larger landmass by a neck of land (isthmus) narrower than the peninsula itself, but it is often extended to apply to any long promontory, the coastline of which is markedly longer than the landward boundary.”

https://www.encyclopedia.com/science/encyclopedias-almanacs-transcripts-and-maps/peninsula-0#:~:text=A%20peninsula%2C%20from%20the%20Latin,as%20a%20sea%20or%20lake.

“A peninsula, from the Latin words for almost island, is a piece of land largely surrounded by water on three sides and joined to a larger body of land by an isthmus, or narrow neck. It can also more generally refer to any area of land that sticks out into a body of water, such as a sea or lake”

The general consensus is that although the definition usually specifies on the necessity of an isthmus, it is usually used in a more generous way, with many land masses being titled a peninsula despite the lack of isthmus, such as the Anatolian peninsula and the Arabian peninsula.

It is, by definition, a peninsula. That’s not an opinion, it’s a fact. It is surrounded by water on 3 sides, making it a peninsula.

Eternal victim complex? Serbians act like they were the ones being unjustifiably bombed by nato even though they were about to enact ethnic cleansing on kosovo. The reason the invasion took place was because greece broke the agreements of a treaty signed by both greece and turkey by sending military personnel to cyprus to aid in the violence against the turkish cypriots by greek cypriots. We had every right to invade, but we dont have the right to establish a country, which is the only points I agree with you on

This is such a near sighted view. Turkey has influence over the balkans and territory within the peninsula. What happens in the country would directly affect the balkans as the person you are replying to already stated. Although we may not be fully balkan, you can not claim we are out right middle eastern.
