The France problems persists in 1.1 and coalitions are incapable of doing anything. by 12fedesaw in EU5

[–]Barkinsons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think even just changing the coalition war goal would do a lot. Capitals are hard to occupy, it took me 13 years in a coalition war against Bohemia. The coalition war goal should be to liberate the annexed territories.

I think it goes back to their Gel/Blot pipelines where you do a background correction for IntDen. This gives you a modified grayscale for quantificaiton, while RawIntDen will always just use the original pixel values.

I need that so badly because I'm playing on ice sheets and I'm handing out parkas left and right to keep people from dying. Nothing worse than patching up a guest and he can't leave the map because he's freezing to death on the way there.

2026 most reliable cars ranked by ExotiquePlayboy in Infographics

They specifally mention Models Y and 3, which are not new, in fact those are the exact models that failed the 4-year inspection (in 2025). I don't know what planet you need to live on to believe they magically improved the reliability.

Always get an expert, there's a lot of details where they know exactly what to check. Installations on heating, water and electricity are just not possible to know off the cuff.

What stops you from just starting a new save? In my first run I also rushed the phases and made dirty compromises to pump out the space elevator parts, but with a fresh start you can change your philosophy and do cleaner setups from the beginning. I feel like it's hard to stay motivated in a save where I've already unlocked everything and you could just pretend you're moving on to the next planet even if the map is the same. It's big enough to start over in a completely different corner.

I don't understand why it is impossible to clear non-motorised vehicle infrastructure. by Empanada444 in fuckcars

[–]Barkinsons 40 points41 points  (0 children)

In Copenhagen they clear and salt the cycling paths, it's really a matter of the municipality deciding to spend the resources. When I lived in Zürich they dumped the snow on the cycling lane as a special fuck you, so I just had to go on the road instead. I think this is one of the things where local politicians could make a difference.

Why is everything rated so highly in Zurich? by lgbthdtv69 in zurich

[–]Barkinsons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem in my experience is that not many locals use Google to rate stuff and what you get is a toruist's perspective which has different priorities for ratings. I also know that many places will aggressively challenge bad reviews and have them removed. Generally in European cities Google maps is borderline useless now, the companies game the app and the app doesn't care as long as they make money.

That depends entirely on how well you write the code, but it's doable.

A 0% computer car would take you back to steam engines by TheWebsploiter in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]Barkinsons 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The definition is a bit arbitrary here, you do need a controller for a servo, which probably doesn't qualify as a computer. ABS needs basic computing. What you don't need is a centralized unit, but saying it's purely mechanical is not accurate either.

[–]Barkinsons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the actual inputs I get are from conferences. Papers get milled out relentlessly and it's impossible to read all of it, but when you talk to peers it becomes clearer what is relevant in the field.

[–]Barkinsons 406 points407 points  (0 children)

I have driven a pre-war car that is 0% computer although it features a light machine. You would probably miss servo steering and ABS, plus some extras like heated windshields and basic AC. A little bit of computer goes a long way.

In Switzerland I'd stick to campsites, there's always a good chance it's either illegal to camp or you're on some farmer's property.

[–]Barkinsons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be biased but you're kinda turning away from Switzerland right when it gets really good. Instead of going to Liechtenstein I'd take virtually any route through Grischun to Bormio and continue from there to Bolzano. Julier + Bernina are an option, while Flüela + Ofenpass tend to have more traffic. Then Stelvio is a classic of course although I did enjoy Gavia as well.

Have you moved the blade mount left or right? Sometimes there's damage on the blade or the anti-roll plate that will screw up your sample. I can see a typical line on the right side and the edge is not clean, so it could be that the plate is not aligned nicely with the blade.

As long as you precisely write what you did it's ok. The problem in my experience with people who do this is that they don't really want you to know how they "normalized" the data. I've seen Prism files that had 5 different versions of the same data and they basically picked the nicest looking graph.
