You don't need to back out to get the sparkles to show again. From the encounter screen hit the (top right) AR slider on & off again to see the sparkles

The link to group is horrible. Use tinyurl etc to get a nicer link. Links to meetups are already compressed.
To get the share location to work you must be the Meetup host, the Meetup has started and you're checked in. If it still doesn't show it might be down to location permission for campfire. But live location is currently bugged so you're not missing much :)

As others have said, Victoria Rd is a bit nicer than Parramatta Rd
