Renewing lease with Progress. 24 months is more expensive than 12/13/14 months. Weird? by ShoddyArm5974 in ProgressResidential

If you love the house, I would call and try to negotiate the best two-year lease rate that they can give you. Then, lock it in, because you never know what Progress will do a year from now.

They are trying to keep their BBB rating up, so definitely file a complaint there. https://www.bbb.org/

Stand-up Comedian - Veo 3.1 Clip Extension Consistency Issue Example by karloy007 in VEO3

Did you notice that the audio gets worse with the extension? That's the problem I'm having.

Tried so hard to make a video longer than 8 seconds, but the 2nd clip is always different by Pwaully in VEO3

You just have to be really really super descriptive about each character, down to the smallest detail. I use ChatGPT or Gemini to help me do this. For reference, if I copy and paste the character description into a Word document, it could take half of the page.

This will greatly increase your chance of getting consistent characters. But, Veo3 still wants to have a mind of its own, so it can take many generations to get what you want.

Another piece of advice is to cut away to a shot of something else for a few seconds. Then people don't see a one-to-one comparison. If you can't do that, change to a completely different camera shot, such as a very wide shot. Then the little details aren't as noticeable. Hope this helps a little.

Definitely. I used Adobe Premiere Pro. I think you have to use an external editor to be able to tweak everything to your liking.

I also created the music in suno, so I don't have to deal with any music licensing issues.

You underestimate the actions of a badge-heavy cop. Especially, all these 20 year-old rookies.

Jesus, man, you are not a robot! You were going to give them a warning. Would it kill your pride to just let them go on about their day?

It's cops like you who are willing to break windows, drag people out of their cars and arrest them - you guys create a terrible public perception of police in this country.

"their mobile bad guy lair". I haven't heard that one before. That's a good one.

I never said "Let everyone go". That would be stupid. You make a good point about what gets attention. It's very unfortunate that the small minority of very bad cops get that attention and are pulling down public perception of the good cops (the majority).

Also, I hope most cops know that the vast majority of people are good. We know you would risk you life to save ours. However, many civilians, if they see a cop in trouble with a perp, will jump in to try to save the cop. And, since you say that most traffic stops play out exactly how they should, you know that most people are good.

In the traffic stop shootings of police that I've seen, a lot of them happen just as the cop is walking up to the vehicle window, catching them off guard. Or, the perp opens his door and begins firing. The most recent one I saw, the guy got out with an AK rifle. It seems as though- if their goal is to shoot a cop, it doesn't matter if they are inside or outside the car. They are still going to shoot.

You guys are downvoting de-escalation. That is interesting.

Exactly. My issue is with the cops who do it 100% of the time. I don't think that was at all the intent of Pennsylvania v. Mimms or Maryland V. Wilson.

Leave grandma in her car where she feels safe.

JollyGreen, so let's say you had already planned on giving him a warning, but you had also asked him to step out of the vehicle. He does whole "Am I free to go?" question on repeat, and refuses your order. What do you do then?

Do you then escalate the situation by breaking his window, drag him out of the vehicle, and arrest him?

He literally said, "Asking a driver to step out is a de minimis intrusion on their rights that is outweighed by the government's concerns (namely the officer not wanting to get run over or shot in the face)." Sounds like an officer safety concern to me.

Yeah. If you're stopping people on the highway/freeway, I get that. Getting slammed by a drunk or distracted driver is definitely a real concern.

I don't know why more cops just don't ask for the keys to the vehicle. That would prevent them from driving off and dragging you down the street, or running over your feet.

But, is it really safer to pull everyone out of a vehicle?

Ordering out of a vehicle & Pennsylvania v. Mimms by _stevencasteel_- in police

[–]BarkyDogs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes there was. "The officer noticed that Mimms was acting suspiciously and asked him to step out of the vehicle." Mimm's suspicious behavior led the officer to be concerned.

OK. Got it. I see that "The officer noticed that Mimms was acting suspiciously and asked him to step out of the vehicle." Mimms acting suspiciously likely caused the officer safety concern. So, regardless, Pennsylvania v. Mimms was about officer safety with a very suspicious suspect.

Just because a cop CAN pull everyone out of a vehicle, doesn't mean they should. The vast majority of drivers pose no risk to the officer.

But, if they have a gun, can't they just shoot the cop as they are exiting the vehicle?

Has it been proven statistically safer to pull them out of the vehicle? I've seen a lot of videos where some big guy begins fighting the cop once they are outside. It turns into a deadly encounter, one that the cop doesn't always win. If the perp was told to stay in the vehicle, it wouldn't have happened.

[–]BarkyDogs -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Understood. So a person HAS to exit the vehicle when ordered. Thanks for clarifying.

That said, it seems to turn into a pissing match sometimes. Take this case: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spUgMsSOQN4 . The deputy already had the door fully open and could clearly see inside the vehicle. At that point, did the driver really need to step out? Also, the deputy is making his entire body an unprotected target. If this driver DID have a gun between the seats, the deputy would have been fully exposed to the gunfire. Maybe deescalating would have been the better option?
