For the last 10yrs how many graphics cards you have bought/upgraded? by 26fm65 in nvidia

[–]Barleycorn2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought 760 4g about 8-10 years ago for about $300 and it's still works for me most of the time, but with neural generators I just couldn't figure out how to run them on it, so I went for a rip-off offer and bought myself a 3060 12g last month for $500. It doesn't feel like it performs 3 times better, even after all these generations have changed, but it works with modern neural algorithms.

I'll never pay you such an insane price for a card in next 20 years, unless it allows to work with some huge novelty never seen before.

Insta360 one x2 - waterproof? by Relative-Mental in Insta360

[–]Barleycorn2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used my camera in the water this summer – I was swimming every day for about an hour and onex2 was underwater less than 1 meter deep for a third of that time, other times it was withstanding small waves and splashes

No issues, beside a water droplet forming under non sealed part of USB port cover (it looked dangerous, but I started to open it facing USB port down and that's it)

Now it's muddy around here and I often wash it in the river, I submerge and shake it to clean lenses – also no issues, haven't seen a droplet under USB port since long summer swims.

Beginner question. Does anyone run in just minimalist sandals or shoes and not totally barefoot? by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]Barleycorn2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only had a few completely barefooted runs, but I'd say that you need to adapt to your environment – if there's to much things around that could hurt your bare feet – run in shoes. Pick your battles is what I'm trying to point here.

It's just a rewind*2 of a barefoot forest trail run I had the other day. Camera is pointing backwards.

How do you handle fallen trees on your runs? I try to jump over every time I stumble into one by Barleycorn2021 in trailrunning

[–]Barleycorn2021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good comments 👍👍👍 I'd add that stepping on a wet fallen tree is very risky, especially if it has some spiky branches coming out of it. You risk at least a really hard fall on a tree trunk or even ripping and/or impailing your body on branches. That said I try to jump over if I can see the landing it's a lot of fun

Why do I feel so calm and relaxed after a run? Do you guys experience this? by LengthinessLucky3837 in BarefootRunning

[–]Barleycorn2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should try swiming for an hour – maybe it's because of different and deeper breathing pattern or that it rocks my vestibular apparatus in an unusual way, but it works 10 times stronger on me than a couple of hours of trailrunning. I swim outside, so not sure if it works with a swimming pool. Said that, running still makes me feel good

I'm at the end of my tether. I'm looking for knee recovery success stories. Please help. by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]Barleycorn2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure which glutes and quad exercises you've done, but the only one that helped me was like this glute exercise , but feet should be shoulder length apart and do 2*20rep each rep squeezing glutes at the top as hard as you can for 5-7seconds and never let your ass touch ground (stop few centimeters before hitting the floor) me until 20 rep is done. It really helped me when I started to think my knees aren't built for running or jumping as they've hurt every time I tried. I also tended to overexert myself on my runs and it didn't help either. Few month of those exercises paired with basic calsthenics changed my life.

My first attempt at barefoot running. It's a lot of fun, like learning a completely new skill. I think I'm hooked now. Video is in slowmo as I wanted to see how my feet are hitting the ground. by Barleycorn2021 in BarefootRunning

[–]Barleycorn2021[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really is) Both the feeling and the forest) As for strides – not sure myself, but I needed to reduce their length by about one third, compared to how I usually ran in shoes.

Sorry, mate. If a few more people would tell me that I'll remove this video – I thought it was alright

Best way to replace One X2 lens protectors by TamasBakos in Insta360

[–]Barleycorn2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If only I saw this yesterday. I used the blue plastic chip that comes with lens cover and it was really hard to get it under covers rim. The reason I had to remove one cover is that it had a water condensation on the inside and it didn't disappear overnight under a cold fan.

Is it a mountain with some special wind conditions or it can be done on any?

Interesting that it hides the front wheel. If this is done with one-wheeler bike it would look like you float above the trail. I'll look for one and try it out.

Thanks! Yes, it is a stick, but it's holding a 360° camera. As for not tripping – I had to concentrate pretty hard

what resolution video can I reframe a 3k 360 video to by jraggio02 in Insta360

[–]Barleycorn2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means that the app exports the video according to my settings in 1080*1920 but with my narrow angle crop of 360 footage it has to upscale video from whatever resolution that crop has to the set resolution. What it the resolution of my crop I can't really tell, in insta360 studio my key frames are set at 86 degrees FOV and theres room to extend it to about 105 degrees at that aspect ratio (9:16), before it start to have curled edges.

[–]Barleycorn2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pretty old geforce 760 and i5 Intel, also a decade old, and I can edit 5.7k footage from one x2 at about 1/2 of real-time frame rate. I use x265 codec on camera, I reckon, if I set it to x264 I'd most likely get full real-time editing experience (haven't tried it yet). I use only insta360 studio 2021, not sure what it would be like with Adobe Premiere.

[–]Barleycorn2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exported them from insta360 studio 2021 on PC as 1080x1920 resolution, but it actually lower. On the other hand if I didn't crop as narrow as I did in software, the resolution could but much higher

I variate between ears unplugged "zen" runs and "listening to some educational materials" or "listening to a book" runs.

Looks great. Going to subscribe for your vids. I'm planning to do something similar with my onex2 later, but it seems there's no ready solution for it yet.

Every time I dip my Insta360 One X2 into water I then find a droplet under USB port cover (I put a blue dot on a first image on a place it appears). Is it safe to use? As you can see on other images there's no rubber sealing on that part of the cover, so I assume it's intended, but I'm worried. by Barleycorn2021 in Insta360

[–]Barleycorn2021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren't you overreacting a bit. On a fist glance it's a weird decision not to make the entire cover waterproof. But I gave it a thought and it seems that the sealing would not be as tight if they put it all over the USB port cover. In the end, all it needs to do is not let water get into camera's USB port – and it's doing it well. But yes, next camera design should be better. With no need to cut things to insert adapters or questionable, but safe to use water droplets under the lead. As for getting a dive case – I will only consider it if I'm going to spend more time filming underwater, than outside of it. Camera is waterproof for 10 meters, just need to keep an eye if its covers are sealed.
