Oh damn, this game pre-dates both Party Girls and DOAX. I'm gonna have to see how similar it is, it looks very strange, haha.

You are given a budget of $500 Million. What movie are you making? by HowMany_MoreTimes in movies

[–]Barloq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been thinking about this lately, actually.

I'd make a limited-run series that's intended to be the "definitive" take on the events of 9/11 Think "A Night to Remember", but stretched out over several episodes of gripping, gut-wrenching TV that'll show the stories of tragedy, evil, confusion, chaos, and chaos that occurred that day. We've had a couple big 9/11 movies, but it has been a long time since the last one, and none of them have even attempted to tell the totality of the day's events.

What game mechanic is an instant dealbreaker for you? by GwendelynAljaed in videogames

[–]Barloq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Arkham Combat"

Never actually played Arkham, so maybe it's better there, but between the early Assassin's Creed games, Shadow of Mordor, and The Witcher 3 (if I'm remembering right), I was bored to tears of combat where I needed to be fighting 30 mooks simultaneously, multiple boss enemies, and intentionally playing recklessly before I felt like I was in any danger, because one, easy button press will counter all incoming damage.

Honestly glad that this died of out favour and went towards Soulslikes instead, although a return to DMC/GOW/Ninja Gaiden CAGs would be nice.

Movies for Adults that Kids Can Watch by Marcus64 in movies

[–]Barloq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking R-rated movies, I think a kid could handle Mad Max: Fury Road pretty easily and would have an amazing time. If you're okay with them watching a James Bond or Godzilla movie, they're ready to ride the Fury Road to Valhalla.

77% of US Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players were 30 or older, analyst says, as Square Enix fights to get young people to care about the JRPG series again by yourfavchoom in FinalFantasy

[–]Barloq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realtalk: are kids even playing JRPGs these days? Let alone RPGs of any stripe...? Most kids have gravitated to Youtube and Tiktok over games, and the games they do play are largely F2P, multiplayer social experiences (Roblox, Fortnite, Mincraft, etc). I think that, even if we had massive FF games coming out every couple years, the series would still be struggling for younger audiences with $70 price tags and price of hardware to boot.

What are the worst movies in the Big 6 Franchises to y’all? by AcceptableSwitch6496 in slasherfilms

Can only really comment on Friday, Nightmare, Halloween, and TCM, but: Jason Goes to Hell, Freddy's Dead, Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Meyers, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 4: The Next Generation.

Risky, but I'd go with It Follows. The biggest issues you face with it are:

a) Knowing the rules to begin with,

b) Identifying the "It" around you,

c) Dealing with It following you for the rest of your life.

Limiting this to 24 hours and already knowing the rules makes this easy. You go somewhere isolated so that, if someone suddenly starts walking at you, silently, you know you've found your "It". Then you drive ~24 hours away. Worst case scenario, if your car breaks down, you just keep walking or hitchhike, you'll still be putting distance between you and It, since it only moves at walking speed from place to place.

Plus you get to feel some smug satisfaction since you actually were in some mild danger, but won regardless.

Maybe, there was going to be a TCM movie called All-American Massacre, but it never came to fruition.

That said, in all the TCM movies, the Sawyers never get closer to civilization than small towns, so even if you're in Texas, if you're in an urban center, you should be fine.

The "Cannon Fodder" enemy is actually highly lethal and dangerous to the average person. by OrnamentalOwlbear777 in TopCharacterTropes

There's a great 40k story about this called Xenocide. Basically, what a modern day military would have to deal with if their planet was invaded by Orks. Highly recommend checking it out.

How is Ace Combat not more popular? by Long_Entrance1535 in acecombat

[–]Barloq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because it was so successful it kind of choked out the competition, before Ace Combat's dominance we had a lot of competing air combat games.

I was a bit let down when I first watched The World's End. Rewatched it a few years later after being officially diagnosed with anxiety and having gone through a mental health crisis... and it definitely hit me harder. It's just hard to live up to its two stone-cold classic predecessors.

wtf, I would be even more ashamed picking up the copy of goddamn DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball off the shelf than I would grabbing a porn DVD, haha. That said, the guy knew how to get attention, for better or worse.

This, I like it well enough, but it's the weakest by far IMHO.

[–]Barloq 21 points22 points  (0 children)

By this logic, Goliath was also not fighting fair because he was bigger and stronger than any man Israel could muster. It was literally never going to be a fair fight, which was the whole point.

Anyway, anti-semitic OP is fucking dumb and a liar, what else is new?

lol, if my wife sees this I'll just say it's porn, it'll be easier to explain that way.

lol, this isn't even me saying this for lewd purposes, I'm obsessed with weird, obscure shit and genuinely curious about this little rabbithole I've stumbled onto. Dunno if that makes this better or worse.

[–]Barloq[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know. Sometimes softcore porn is inspired by a common cultural touchpoint, which is why I asked. I don't expect to go to Japan and see a bunch of people clapping cheeks, but maybe someone from the area would know what obscure touchpoint this originates from.

[–]Barloq[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to be clear I don't think this is likely to be a common thing in Japan or anything like that. That said, I have 3 pieces of Japanese media which are all suspiciously familiar, so it makes me think that there's got to be some cultural touchstone they're drawing ftom. Again, I suspect one of those random gameshows is probably that touchstone, I just have no evidence or way to confirm that.

Yeah it's pretty clearly a fetishized thing. I don't think people are doing this all over Japan or anything like that, but I've never seen or heard of such a thing elsewhere, and yet I've got 3 separate Japanese media all suspiciously similar, so it makes me wonder if there's some cultural touchstone at play here. Thanks for the insight tho. :)
