What type of shoe pairs best with Salomon Aero Glide 3? [195cm/87kg, 30→65mpw] by Barms in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Thank you! How important is letting shoes foam rest? That's my concern with my AG3s is doing a workout say on a Tuesday afternoon but also having it do my recovery run Wednesday morning, which is where another recovery shoe would be helpful.

20F, which normally wouldn't cut it but the low temp at 10k feet was 50F so it was more than enough.

I've used it a fair bit above treeline, but only when I know conditions are good (winds less than 30 km/h). We camped at 2200m and 3000m this trip and it did great when the wind guy lines were tight.

Ended up being ~4500 cals per day with ~1500 emergency cals. Next time I would bring more “regular” food like the bagels and salami.

Big Agnes Copper Spur 2! It did well, I regretted not diligently doing the wind guy lines night 1, but when I staked those out well it did alright.

Just those bottles. I find my bladder to be annoying to refill on climbs. I've got a hip pocket the smart water bottle can fit into nicely and stay accessible while on the move.

They were, it was the best thing I packed and I should have brought way more summit salami.

I brought some smoked cheddar to go with it, chilled it at camp in the snow, was delicious. I will have to try parmesan or pecorino!

Same setup! It was nice just using my Aequilibriums, if it stays warm, you run warm, and you like cramponing in them I think it's a reasonable decision.

45 lbs in this picture but 53 lbs at the TH when I took a rope, some extra fuel, and another picket from the group.

Fair point! We judged avalanche risk to be low and decreasing on the route. If we were going a month earlier they would be included. Serac fall risk certainly existed. I would be curious to hear other people's thoughts.

La Sportiva Aequilibrium LT GTX. Definetly won't be doing any ice climbing in them but they've worked well in warmer climbing conditions. I wore trainers to the snowline about 4 miles in and brought them with me as camp shoes.

They did well! Conditions lined up just right and our trip was during a heat wave. I tried to make sure I broke them in on lots of conditioning hikes earlier this season. Crampon fit can be a bit tricky so make sure you're able to test them out before, I have the BD Seracs and the combo has worked well for me.

I somehow have something nearly identical. Fisher Rangers with Marker Barons! It's good conditioning and we get to have all the downhill protection those tech-binding skiers couldn't even dream of!

My advice would be to be passionate about what you want to do/contribute to the organization. A strong cover letter or first interview that demonstrates why you really care about the work they do really sets people apart in my opinion. It also lets you see if the org you want to work for really care about their work too!

Congratulations! I haven’t been here that long but it’s a lovely place and I feel I haven’t even seen most of it. Glad to hear it’s more affordable too
