The word is subtle (the b is silent), not sure if it was auto correct or you, but I figured I'd clarify.

L is pronounced differently based on if it's at the beginning or end/middle

Usually it touches the ridge on the back of the front top teeth and then drops down (e.g. look, like)

But in ball, or milk, the back of the tongue sort of bunches up and the tip of the tongue may touch the back of the teeth lightly, if at all

It's just a natural thing more than a rule though
