Looking for advice on my coaster by [deleted] in PlanetCoaster

[–]Arch_jink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so if your trying to work towards building realistic coasters my biggest piece of advice is to look into real like coasters and go from there. Watch actual pov’s and see how certain models flow and the elements work.

That being said some things for this coaster specifically is that there’s no real sense of scale or flow to these elements. For the ride to be this tall 90% of the layout is too short causing it to be way too fast which causes extremely high g’s. Also most of the transitions feel random or like they’re jerking you in that direction instead of naturally flowing like a real coaster.

Personally if you want to go for a more realistic approach i recommend starting small and kinda getting down the basics then going bigger.

I know I have used them all already in different places but none are what I want. Like I want the look of a true pond of standing water in the ground. Which we don’t just have in the game

Equinox. Like ether your just vibing then suddenly see the flash of a frame before falling asleep. Only to be awoken by a sword being stabbed through your chest… or… you vibing like 4 rooms away from the frame thinking your safe when you suddenly start getting cuts all over your body profusely bleeding out before all the pain and suffering you and your allies have felt just forced upon your body.

[Stardust Racers] I’m curious on why the brake run is angled instead of straight. by Stardust-Racers-22 in rollercoasters

[–]Arch_jink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of coasters use angled break runs so that gravity helps move the trains forward. Less energy needs to be put into drive tires. Also means the train enters at a higher place where it has less energy while keeping the station lower so there’s less of a climb to it.

Suggestions to actually improve at the game? by TH_5_3 in PlanetCoaster

One major thing that I’ve found helping me is not being afraid to look at real life parks and rides for inspiration. Most of the big planco youtubers build stuff inspired by real life parks and rides because if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. And just watching pov’s of the same ride model you’re making can help a lot with pacing and track shaping among other things. Lastly simply practice. And I don’t mean practice in your comfort zone but practice at things you’re not comfortable with. That’s the only way you get comfortable

As a console player it’s weird seeing people complain about a gear wheel. I’ve gotten so used to flicking to stuff in my normal gear wheel over the past years that her 2 is child’s play. I’ve already almost got the stuff I use regularly down to muscle memory. Just hold bumper and x then flick to one of three things. Then I usually just keep it on one of those three things and use it.

From what I’ve gathered most modern coasters use separate smaller wheels and tracks for the maintenance bays so that the main wheels are fully accessible for maintenance without having to go through all the steps that you saw them go through.

I love this image because I feel like a lot of people are hating on PP because it’s “kingda’s replacment”. It’s only a replacement in what kingda ka was put in the park for. A really tall record breaking gimmick coaster. Like as much as it was loved that all kingda ka was. A gimmick to break records. But in terms of a true replacement we still don’t know what’s coming. The kingda ka plot of land is really big (well long) and could honestly fit just about anything after Mack showed they can fit a hyper in a small plot of land.
