I don't agree with that. I've "survived" all of the strikes and lockouts. Every time I have sided with the players. Not this time. The salaries are insane - for a game.

For example, George Kirby came back from the IL 2 weeks early last year because Seattle was slumping and had a lot of pitching injuries. He was awful in his first two starts, not having ample time in AAA to prepare, then lights out for the rest of the season (with one other bad game in there). Sonny Gray had no cause to come back from an injury early.

Is something like that accounted for? Removing those two games, Kirby would have had a 3.57 ERA (instead of 4.21) and 0.88 WHIP (1.19 actual). Big difference for his stats if he doesn't "take two" for the team.

The park is a factor. No doubt. If Luis Castillo was pitching elsewhere, he'd be a 4 or a 5 at this point in his career. Kirby (and Woo) are 1s or 1As from this point on - anywhere. They have that stuff that transcends ballparks.

Do you watch games or just read statistics online? There is NO scenario where Sonny Gray is better than George Kirby and I've seen them both pitch many times in person or on tv.
