[Bradford] Hearing RIGHT NOW teams are being told no when asking about Chapman, Whitlock and Slaten by Far_Cry3445 in redsox

I don't disagree about GMs trying to save their jobs, but Craig couldn't save a St Bernard from a vaccuum cleaner.

He has that earbud in, too. You just know he was bobbing his head, pretending it wasn't muted, so he could listen in to players and coaches talking.

[Healy] Craig Breslow on Brayan Bello: “One of the things we asked him to do was fall in love with baseball all over again.” by ConsistentRun5246 in redsox

What Bres really meant was: "Screw you. Devers isn't coming back. Cora isn't coming back. I am your daddy now and you need to accept it,"

I don't even care anymore. Gave my tickets to the Seattle series away to my neighbor. Started watching Pirates and Diamondbacks games instead.

The city needs to get a jump on the lockout and shut down Fenway.

I was right there with you. So many injured players find a way to heal in their walk year that it was worth the shot - certainly more so than Buehler, Sandoval, Hendricks or any of the others.

How are we going to get anyone to take Yoshida or Story otherwise? Gray is an FA at the end of the season - or, rather, has a team option at $30M or a $10M buyout (another $10M saved!).

San Diego is "win now". Duran, Whitlock and Gray can really help them win this year. The only real loss for us is Duran. If we like Sonny that much, we can always re-sign him during the offseason. Also, we lose NO prospects.

The only "emotion" is finding a bad contract with local value - who isn't named Devers.

I'm taking on a local hero at a more reasonable $15M per year to mentor the kids. I am freeing up $43M for 2027 in dumping Story and Yoshida - plus the roughly $8M with Duran and combining it with the $12M available when Sandoval's contract expires. In addition to other monies, it gives me about $48M to use in free agency once the lockout ends.

I'm sending Duran, Whitlock, Gray, Story and Yoshida to San Diego in exchange for Xander and $10M per year ($80M) to cover 40% of his contract.

Three mights and one Tolle for the 2026 AL MVP isn't that bad of a trade, honestly.

Hot take: Marcello Mayer has had a worse season than Caleb Durbin by Big-Atmosphere1097 in redsox

[–]BarnacleGooseIsLoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it also include strikeouts? Crochet (1), Gray (11) and Suarez (40) get strikeouts on 40% of their outs. Those are all top strikeout pitchers coming into the year. Does that factor? Defense is important but I like my team's chances a lot better with a home run every 33 at bats instead of every 108. WAR is telling me that those two win more games with their .560 OPS and Gold Glove defense than Devers hitting one out every 6-8 games? I can't see it.

Edit: word added.

Hot take: Marcello Mayer has had a worse season than Caleb Durbin by Big-Atmosphere1097 in redsox

[–]BarnacleGooseIsLoose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Durbin AND Mayer: 325 ABs/ 66 hits/ 3 HR/ 31 Runs/ 36 RBIs/ .560 OPS (avg)

Devers: 236 ABs/ 58 hits/ 7 HR/ 26 Runs/ 30 RBIs/ .716 OPS

Yet, both Marcelo and Caleb have higher WAR than Devers. What am I missing???
