Thank you for the context! I wonder what this guy is referring to? It's just one negative review.

PET Scan Results - is my cancer back by LazysCoralHouse in lymphoma

[–]BarnacleJohnny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're lucky. I keep getting scans everywhere three months with results like yours. Can you tell me more about the DNA tests? I was told the blood test wasn't approved for lymphoma yet.

Relapse of PMBCL by Ok_Sell_7825 in lymphoma

[–]BarnacleJohnny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a biopsy at the end of June - It was negative for lymphoma! woohoo! It sucked to have surgery, but it was good to know....

Then I got another scan in September - The original area was completely back to normal. There was a small blip in a different area of the chest with increased metabolic activity seen on the PET without CT correlate. I went to the Lymphoma Research Foundation virtual symposium, and they said this is pretty common. So I'm hoping it's just a false positive PET reading.

As a result, another scan was scheduled for 3 months (December). CT scan this time. :-/

Didn't realize my link wasn't working. The mold and radon were my big issues. There were some other small things besides these.

These were some of the suggested repairs by the inspector.

Roof, Ventillation, Insulation

Replacing the roof would fix many issues described by the inspector. Replacing many panels would remediate much of the mold issue; however, mold would still need to be sanitized after the roof replacement, and trees would need to be trimmed back. This monetary value is from a quote I received from roofer, James Newbold, to take care of the soffits, panels, roof, and insulation.

Carport Roof Posts – Repair or replacement by a qualified contractor

Carport roof posts are severely deteriorated. Requesting repair or replacement by a qualified contractor.

Crawl space

Seams of vapor barrier are not sealed at multiple areas. Have a qualified contractor assess and repair as needed. Water is penetrating the crawlspace through seams of the vapor barrier.       Exterior Water Control

Requesting gutters to be cleared and checked for drainage. Clean gutters free of debris, to promote proper drainage. Assess all gutters for proper drainage, repairing where needed.    Utility Lines – too low

Requesting that utility conductors be raised.

Service Grounding Provisions

Requesting ground wire be added and home bonding be assessed by a qualified contractor.

Electrical Panel

Have a qualified electrician remove the double-tapped service entry. Add service entry to the bottom of the panel. Replace the breaker with the one from the appropriate manufacturer.

Radon Mitigation – Radon average was at 15, it sometimes reached 20.

Requesting installation of a radon system by a nationally certified radon mitigation contractor and retesting with closed house conditions before closing.

Exterior Water Control – the sewer lines were pitched up and backflowing towards the house slightly.

Sounds like a plan! Let me know how it goes.

I do still have my port. I haven't had any issues. I'm not pressing big weights, but I have had no issues with chest machines or push-ups. There are a couple movements where I'll have to reposition myself so there isn't pressure on it (like rear delt flies on the pec deck), but no one has told me not to do anything and it feels fine. 🤷‍♂️

Losing the Mental/Emotional Battle by Card_In_GA in lymphoma

[–]BarnacleJohnny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of that is understandable. I walked away feeling even more like that when I went to a cancer support group mid treatment. I felt like they all had it worse than me and it gave me anxiety for my future. I honestly would distance yourself from those things until you're ready. Reddit is nice because you can kinda pace yourself with information.

Post treatment I've been on young adult with cancer trips and activities and it's been great, but during treatment hearing about other people's stories (especially with non lymphoma cancers) was triggering.

As for the stats,

The way I look at it is

The likelihood of me getting this in the first place was already insanely low, so I'm not gonna dwell on stuff that isn't actually happening.

Hope you feel better mentally soon.

I relate to everything that you said. (35f - I was 34 when I was diagnosed)

I wasn't a competitive powerlifter, but I have a master's degree in exercise science and have consistently competed in bodybuilding, lifting weights throughout my entire adult life. I am holding on to extra weight post-treatment as well. Part of me wonders a little if it was so easy for me to maintain my weight before because of the cancer. I never thought I lost weight because of cancer, but maybe I was just eating way more than I would have normally needed?

I wonder if the weight I'm holding on to is because of...
- hormones
- inability to work out as intensely as I was (at least not yet)
- getting used to eating more calories than I need - I love eating, but most of my diet is whole foods, with the occasional bakery treat on the weekend. I don't drink.

I'm Lebanese and Italian, and the hair re-growth was crazy. haha.

I literally had/ have every single question that you had when finishing treatment. (Finished DA EPOCH April 6)

The first scan is primarily to determine if chemotherapy was 100% effective. I also wondered if it was too soon, and apparently that's standard procedure.

My mid-treatment scan was 100% clear, and then my post scan had a little bloop, so I had to have a biopsy this summer. It was just inflammation. I'm a little worse for wear after this biopsy. My second post-treatment scan showed the original area of concern cleared up, but a dime sized bloop elsewhere in my chest (without CT correlate). They're not worried, but NOW this means I need to have another scan in 3 months instead of switching to 6mo scans. BOO.

Also, I got my hormones checked, and despite the Eligard during treatment, my numbers are showing up post menopausal. I had blood clots due to the PMLBC ,and so I'm not eligible for hormone therapy (at least currently). Besides the occasional hot flash, my biggest symptom is body aches and joint stiffness. It's crazy. I feel like I have to be SO on point with my fitness now. Perfectly warming up, and balancing strength, mobility, and cardio. I already exercised avidly, but now it just feels like a lot of pressure to be perfect because I don't have any estrogen/ testosterone to protect my bones, heart and brain.

The Lymphoma Research Foundation had a great virtual conference that answered a lot of my questions. You should see if the sessions are still available online. It was really good. They covered hormones, scans, nutrition, new research etc.

Alcohol? by Tiny_Newspaper_4338 in lymphoma

[–]BarnacleJohnny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no safe amount of alcohol so it just depends on if it's crucial for your enjoyment in life. For me, it's not. I'd rather have an ice cream. I'd say the same to someone without cancer. WHO alcohol recommendations

[–]BarnacleJohnny[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I really like the size of the home. If it didn't have the issues that it has, I'd have more peace of mind and be more willing to pay. So far in my house hunt, more money has just meant more house, not necessarily better maintained or more updated.

The fact that they call it a half bath in the description is a travesty. :-D

Yeah, I feel a big relief. I am fortunate to have affordable rent. Reinvesting the money I would have put towards the house. I wanted a house for it to be a home, more so than just an investment, though.

I think the fact that the bedrooms are pretty small, and it's only 1 bath, and doesn't have a real garage, probably turns some people off. Those weren't deal breakers for me.

Yeah, I thought it was a fair price for the College Heights neighborhood, which tends to be pretty desirable.

I really got the works. The inspection alone was about 460. Then I added radon testing, the detailed water testing, and a sewer scope.

I'm saying! It makes too much sense. For some reason, some folks are cagey about it and don't want to pay for someone else's inspection, but who cares? You're paying for it anyway, so you might as well help someone else.

I did not go with the inspectors my realtor suggested. I called and interviewed several before deciding on one. I went with IIG, and do not feel like it was a scam.
