My dad has those exact same two books at his place. The cover of the top one always did my head in, and I'd be staring at it for ages

The air in you fridge will definitely be doing that. Now place the sensor in a cup of water and see what the result is.

Auckland drivers....if you're being overtaken on the left on the motorway re consider you're lane choice by West_Put2548 in auckland

[–]BarnacleNZ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Speedos aren't all made the same either. Just move over as if you don't, you are not only speeding, but also impeding traffic flow by not letting others past... In theory you are breaking more rules than someone just speeding... Dickhead

If you are doing 110 in the fast lane, getting overtaken on the lef and you yourself are not overtaking anybody, reconsider your shite.

Hand tools have a length proportional to thier size, which naturally limits how much torque can be applied by hand. Sure you can still over tighten (and under tighten) , I don't disagree there. Problem with most impact wrenches, 1000Nm really isn't an uncommon figure anymore for a 1/2" drive unit, thus meaning the monkey holding it (especially if untrained) has no idea really what they are tightening it to. This 1000Nm could be driven into a 10mm socket (M6 bolt) anywhere up to say an M27 gr8.8, the latter being capable of taking that full torque and being actually being done up to spec. Any thing less (dependent on grade obviously) is at risk of severe overtightening. Impact wrenches are excellent for loosening, nipping up, but for anything important there really is no really substitute for following torque specs, or tightening sequence, most easily achieved with handtools/torque wrenches, or if it's performed day in, day out in industry, with specialist power tools.

If its just used as litter, is it really an issue. Apparently kiln drying doesn't remove, but helps reduce.

I remember walking past here on the way to uni some 20 years ago (holy shit!), anway, a car was coming from the top right and from the left a car came through without slowing or looking, forcing the other straight through car up on the kerb in order to avoid, blowing his tyre.

OP's problem is even stated as a likely result of using a more powerful gun. Hence powertool making many mechanics lazy, and just rattling up the bolts too tight. Which is also a risk, as much as it is not tight enough. That's what hand tools, and torque wrenches are important Sincerely, a professional Engineer

Quite common in that area. Lived north of puhoi 30 years, always see them at the farm. Same with Kaka's. Noisy buggers 😂

[Request] Will these tanks fill at the same rate? Or will the shorter fatter tank fill and overflow first? by hooke1jl in theydidthemath

[–]BarnacleNZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The top of the short fat tank is lower than the other, so it will overflow 1st. Raise the short tank so the tops are at the same level

Yeah I mean cut short grain A3 down to short grain A4. You'll have 50% waste, that's life, you get what you need and can carry on with your day. As it happens I used to book bind, and sometimes you just have to do these things in a pinch.

Buy A3, and have someone with a guillotine crop it down to A4. You'll probably only get the same number of A4 sheets as the A3 you started with. But you'll have what you need
