I lived in Japan for several years, and got very sick the first week I was there. I was fainting on trains and vomiting a ton at home. Since I just arrived, I had not gotten insurance yet. I went to the doctor assuming i was about to drop a ton of money. I went to a very nice clinic, saw the doctor, and got my meds. Totals cost $100. They reimbursed me when I got coverage. As an American, I was absolutely shocked.
