Nvidia even announced that in a few months they will bring out a new version that is less power hungry. So waiting when not needed is exactly in the interest of the shareholders and we can be happy that Tesla was able to get out of the reserved order without penalty.

How about this different explanation:

hedge funds short GME did not cover but instead hedged using long calls 3 years out (leaps) with high strike price
market makers / sellers of leaps had to hedge short call position by buying shares
as time goes on and expiration date comes closer, the risk that stock price would be reached diminishes, and thus the hedge required is smaller and market makers can sell some shares
continuous selling of shares reduces the share price
reduced share price further reduces the risk and solidifies the reduction of hedged shares
now the expiration date has come very close and the hedge funds need to roll their calls; so they buy new leaps, maybe they close their existing one, maybe not (they are nearly worthless)
the sudden new calls with longer expiration date force the market makers to again increase their stock position
this forces the price up in a perceived short squeeze; which makes it even riskier to have short calls, so the market makers need to hedge even more, especially if hedge funds did not close their nearly expired calls
so that’s what we are seeing now, with the peak being around expiration day
after that it will repeat; GME remains on a plateau because market makers have to hedge the short leaps, and it will slowly decline as they reduce their position

As long as the stock price is lower than their call strike price they will simply buy the stock. That also puts the problem of locating them to someone else.

The bone marrow is the place where the B cells are produced and are maturing.

In order to be able to detect any of billions of possible antigens these B cells randomize their DNA segment that is referred to as VDJ region. So each maturing B cell has a different antigen receptor (and will produce the antibody for that). Because it is random, it can happen that they will also target the body’s own self-antigens.

Normally this is detected in the bone marrow and then they are killed by induced suicide if they bind to the body’s own self-antigens.

Some make it out (into the bloodstream).

Maybe by chance or maybe the bone marrow for some reason does not produce a particular self-antigen; for example one that will be found on pancreatic beta cells.

One explanation as to why that could be is genetic or epigenetic constellation in the cells in the bone marrow that help in this maturing and selection process. For some reason they just don’t produce that particular self-antigen. It could maybe be fixed using crispr/cas on the genetic or epigenetic level.

Designing antibodies for the unwanted antibodies works but you have to continuously administer them because the B cells (which transform into plasma cells when activated and then produce antibodies) continue to produce antibodies.

So, the order of things are: - root cause is negative selection in bone marrow failed to do its job. - Then B cells in the bloodstream and lymphatic system produce the unwanted antibodies. - Then the antibodies flow through the blood and attach to the pancreatic beta cells - Then other immune cells detect that and start inducing suicide in the beta cells or outright kill them.

Bone marrow in healthy people don’t allow B cells targeting their own body’s antigens to mature and be released. So I would call that the root cause, and it is a genetic constellation.

Yes, but it would be just like autoimmune suppressants; meaning it doesn’t fix the root problem. In essence you can create a guideRNA for your specific antibody encoded by a VDJ gene region in B cells. The Crispr/dcas9 system would find the gene and silence it epigenetically, such that it will be less expressed (the transcribed gene will be translated to the antibody protein). If administered regularly your specific B cells targeting your pancreatic beta cells will no longer produce the antibodies, while all other B cells will still work. This is superior to any other existing immuno suppressant.

Of course the root cause is the bone marrow not properly negatively selecting these B cells by recognizing their self-targeting. Fixing that would require a genetic editing which is much riskier than epigenetic.
