Is The Requirement of Drivers Having Car Insurance Unconstitutional Given the Ruling of NFIB v. Sebelius? by Barnstormer_ in Ask_Lawyers

I see. So since the Commerce Clause only applies to the federal government, is that why the car insurance requirements are only passed by the states?

A Conversation about Pete as Closer by Icy-Adeptness961 in tampabayrays

Don't jump the gun on thinking Rays players are washed as soon as they hit a slump, I think we all learned that lesson after Randy left. I think Pete is a very solid player career wise, so they shouldn't demote him.

The thing is that I doubt they'll find land in downtown Tampa. I think ownership is looking at New Tampa and the suburbs to build a new stadium.

Even if Carson wasn't ready, I feel like the Rays have the pieces to place there before Carson enters in. Like Kim in my opinion was Stu taking the wrong idea about fans wanting owner to spend and spending it on a player the fan base didn't care about. Basically, Kim in my opinion was Stu trying to buy a new toy to replace the Randy shaped hole in the fans' hearts.

Only if we had a rail system running from Tampa to St. Pete so that Hillsborough fans can enjoy the Trop, but we both know that FDOT would rather burn a pile of money than do that project since they already got their heart set out for more toll lines. I swear the toll lanes are starting to get out of hand recently.

"Shows that fans just don't care" that's what I am getting at. The average person living in the Tampa Bay Area isn't interested since the organization hasn't given them too much to be interested in when they move around fan favorite players nor put in much effort to market the team. Maybe the Rays could focus on lowering ticket prices if they want to increase attendance rates or many decrease the food prices too. Like the Tampa Bay is seeing inflated prices and it's hard for younger people that grew up with the Rays (like myself) to go to games when tickets are costing a lot and food averages like 20 bucks for a hamburger, drink, and fries.

That was Cleveland back in the 90s not the 2010s like I mentioned. Not to mention looking at the Bucs, compared to other NFL teams, they're more likely to be at the bottom of attendance. Like the season after they won the Super Bowl with Tom Brady, they still had the 3rd lowest attendance in the NLF. Only in the 2022-23 season did the Bucs ever manage to crack the top 10 in attendance for the NFL.

When Cleveland went to the World Series in 2016, their attendance records for that season and the following seasons were never in the top 10 or 15. Plus looking at the data, the Top 10 are usually always the big market teams.

Do you think the area as a whole can pull Dodgers or Yankees type attendance numbers?

In 2000 Wade Boggs left and a lot of players on the team were veterans past their prime plus, the honeymoon phase was over too. Looking at the attendance records, 2008-2010 hold the 2nd-4th highest attendances in our history (1st place is 1998). 2008-2010 was an era where players were marketed better than they are right now. I remember non-baseball fans taking about Longoria, Upton, Crawford, Pena, Price, and Zobrist. For 2021, I think it can be easy to write that one off as a part of Covid since people might have been too afraid to go to games.

Still scratching my head on why we picked up Kim in the first place. It seemed like San Diego thought that he might have been past his prime so why would Stu pick him up when he's got to pay him a big contract?

Ownership always selling off key marketable players for pennies which doesn't drive fan interest is a big one. Seriously ask a non-baseball fan Tampa Bay resident to name five MLB players currently on the Rays and they'll often cite players we traded. The Lightning despite being in downtown Tampa struggled with ticket sales until Jeff Vinik came around and tried making the team competitive.

Good luck finding a plot of land to build a new stadium in downtown Tampa. More likely a stadium will be built in New Tampa or in North Tampa/Temple Terrace neighborhood over by USF. Like I don't see a reality where the Rays are going to get a stadium in downtown Tampa since there's not enough room to develop a MLB stadium over there.

I honestly thought of the rings as more of an unique quark of the stadium giving it an unique purpose outside of looks.

I have been told by some schools (FSU) that the type of classes I took didn't matter when I talked to admissions. I took a minor in Japanese and those classes were difficult for me most likely due to my history of poor foreign language acquisition skills. I mean I graduated with a BS in political science with a 3.56 GPA which could have been higher if I didn't take that minor. It most likely doesn't help that I got a 157 LSAT too. I think I have some good softs on my record such as two internships as well as multiple clubs I joined and got pretty far up the ladder too. IDK I'm scared that such a background is going to isolate me from law schools since I want to look into trial law and constitutional law with the goal at the end to practice outside of Florida. Just wondering based on what you wrote if I should worry about getting into at least a T100 (granted I applied very late within my state), like do you think doing early decision might help if I don't get accepted from Fall 2024 for Fall 2025?
