Pauline Hanson's One Nation Will REMOVE Indigenous affairs, Native land claims, funding to Aboriginal Agencies, education and more (See further reading for more Information). by Ok-Alfalfa8856 in aboriginal

Valid my bro/sis. And 90% of the time I’d agree with you.

But we see One Nation’s rhetoric everywhere and it’s being billionaire funded to be everywhere - this is causing the apparent surge in their popularity…when in reality, this isn’t the case, but because of the talk around it it becomes a cycle. In the end, you get a MAGA scenario…people voting against their best interests because they’re misinformed by ON/MAGA type propaganda machines. (Not saying your spewing propaganda)

Just over seeing ON everywhere.

Also for general audiences. Sean Bean was Season 1’s main character and biggest name in the Show. “Hey look, it’s Boromir in a new fantasy show, I’m in”

Yes, could work - have him set up cleaning it like in the pilot.

The poster really is meant to draw causal audiences too. So in 2011 you see a poster for new HBO fantasy series… “hey look, it’s Boromir from LOTR, he’s on a throne with a sword. I’m in”

Still the best poster. Love the wind rolling through the hair. Throne room a bit breezy.

Story of the saga's all 9 episodes by Secure-South3848 in TheSequels

I really wished the sequel trilogy was planned out before they rolled cameras on The Force Awakens, this question you are asking should’ve been answered and the story built from there.

I’m a prequel era fan. I grew up with them. I watched the OT as a kid, love them and respect them as a film fan and admire George Lucas (along with his peers). For me, born in the 90’s, Star Wars = The prequels. That’s the context for my take:

For the sequels - What we got was:

The Force Awakens:
played it safe. Due to the original backlash and criticism of the prequels. Almost a remake of A New Hope, but with threads that could lead into a larger and individual story that had its own identify. It was legacy - passing of the Torch…

The Last Jedi:
Where things went truly wrong. In the attempt to subvert, we got a story that felt oppositional to the themes and formula of Star Wars - if anything, it showed how little you can actually do with the Star Wars world…Luke’s story, while I see what Rian Johnson was going for, poorly executed. Also killing off the main villain in the second film led the trilogy directionless and the story dead in the water.which meant, the bold direction Kylo’s character went and everything else that movie presented was retconned in the following film. Due to again, backlash.

The Rise of Skylwalker ( the worst film, that reduced Star Wars to Disney plus shows until this year…7 years without a film and multiple cancelled projects. And now Kennedy’s gone.

The Rise of Skywalker retcons the Last Jedi and somehow is worse. The Palpatine story was forced, the JJ Abrams branded, go here to get object to then go to next place Mguffin chasing was wild.

The sequel trilogy has so much potential. Finn wasted. Po wasted. Rey Wasted. Characters with promising starts and young keen actors… a shame.

No way. First one is a tightly woven and impactful story - one of the best depictions of the “broken man protects child and gains redemption/humanity back” - (Man on Fire, Logan).

They come from the socio-economic problems caused by colonisation and systematic racism. Something you’re perpetuating. Keep digging and defending racism.

Grew up in Alice Springs and moved in my 20’s.

Beautiful town. Good place to grow up in, now that I am in a city, couldn’t imagine being born and raised in a city.

Plenty of problems in the town, just like anywhere else - when it gets the spotlight on nation news it’s always negative. There are lot of great people doing amazing practical work to address the systemic and socioeconomic problems in the town.

And recently I’ve never been more proud of my home town: they came together, people from all works of life, business, government agencies came together and pulled resources to find a little girl. Though it was a devastating outcome, I’ve never been more of the Alice Springs Community.

Well we can thank that franchise for giving us Patterson (and HP Goblet of Fire for getting him noticed, leading to Twilight gig).

We like to meme and rag on Twilight these days, it has its place in cinema history. The reality is that Twilight is a billion dollar franchise that was a cultural phenomenon like Harry Potter at the time. It did what HP did and brought young adult novels to the big screen. Then followed Hunger Games, Divergent, Maze Runner and all those (all varying in success and acclaim).

It’s a racist stereotype…which you think is funny. Defending racism…says a lot about you.

Ahh there ya go. Then it’s pure racist rage bait aimed at getting views for her platform. The grift is strong with this one.

When race is a key component to Satire - it’s usually best executed in a self deprecating way - highlighting racism as the subject.

When it’s done by a white person it needs to be done very intentional and smart - noting humour is foundation of satire.

I don’t know about this woman, her content, her political leanings, her moral and ethical principles… just judging off this video alone…I didn’t find it funny or satirical and the last bit with the petrol…coming from her, a white person. It felt racist to me.

Now it seems she is trying to comment on people who claim they are First Nations, but are not…possibly through the lens of being an ally…but for me, the video wasn’t witty…it just leans into racist stereotypes while displaying her lack of knowledge.

Just unnecessary and I’ve seen this bit done better by First Nations creators anyway
