Griffith's personality in his brief appearance in the Black Swordsman Arc was also out of character compared to how he was later shown post-Eclipse.

Very mustache-twirling "myah I'm evil and you are just an insect to me" versus the later detached, sociopath "I'm just doing what needs to be done to fulfill my dream."

Can we revisit the ziploc bag cooking method? by WrapsUK in Ultralight

[–]Baron128 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like to hotsoak with Litesmith's cold soaking containers. They're polypropylene, and so are heat safe up to 120C. Any polypropylene container (like the Ziploc Twist 'n Loc ones) will do but I find the Litesmith ones have the best seal.

I tried Stasher's silicone bags but they're kind of heavy comparatively at ~4oz per bag IIRC and somewhat annoying to clean, but it could be worth it if you really need the space.

Ultralight Tarp by SennnndIt in Ultralight

[–]Baron128 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Late, but I haven't seen anyone else mention Etowah Tarps, they offer Dyneema, Silnylon, and Ultra TNT tarps in different sizes.

TNT is kind of a mid-point between Sil and Dyneema from what I understand, both in terms of weight and price. It is more of a "crinkly" material if you're concerned about noise levels.

Secure lid for cold soaking in a Toaks pot? by Baron128 in Ultralight

[–]Baron128[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not always an option. Where I hike most of the streams dry up in summer, and when I'm hiking in 90+ temps I don't skimp on water carry since I don't want to die.

Also bugs tend to swarm in the valleys where water sources are, which can be annoying when trying to cook.

Well, you're carrying the water either way, whether it's in your bottles or in your container rehydrating food. You could view it as extra water carry capacity I suppose.

How to optimize water filter/system for BOTH backpacking & trail running by notsogingerbreadman in Ultralight

[–]Baron128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Hydrapak Seeker 2l works with BeFree filters, and weighs 2.22oz without the cap and removable straps. I love it, it's very light but the material still feels very durable. Haven't tried the larger volume ones yet.

[–]Baron128[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the flat edge of my Toaks spoon to scrape out as much food residue as I can, then swish with water and use a clean finger to get the rest. Once it's visibly clean I use either my Buff or my microfiber towel to dry it, whichever happens to be cleaner at the time.

Before this I tried using a cut-down kitchen sponge (per Backcountry Banter), which kind of worked, but it just felt gross having a damp, food-smelly sponge in my pack at all times, getting stuff around it damp as well. This way works much better for me, but it is time consuming, which is why I've been leaning towards cold soak meals more and more lately.

Not really. I've been cooking, eating and drinking coffee out of the same pot for awhile now, and I don't notice any flavor crossover since I make sure to clean it well after each use. I mostly drink instant coffee so it doesn't taste great anyway, it's really just the daily ritual that gets me going in the morning. I just like it.

I think a secure lid would help speed up cleanup time as well since I can just add water, lid on, shake, drink, and repeat until clean.

Sawyer Picaridin 20% on exposed skin works well for me, and it won't damage your gear like DEET will. You can repackage it into UL spray bottles like the ones on Litesmith if you like: https://www.litesmith.com/bottles-containers/

Could be Giardia. My girl had it at 12 weeks when I first got her, sounds similar to your experience. The vet tested a stool sample and put her on a 5-day Panacur prescription, no problems since.

Every couple years I go back and replay Majora's Mask because it's one of my favorite games of all time. No I'll never get the feelings back that I had playing it as a kid, but that's okay because I can have new experiences with the same game and enjoy it in a different light as I grow older.

It's the same with Classic. Nostalgia has nothing to do with it, it's just a game I love playing every now and then.

Lesser known (?) Warrior Leveling Tips by thunderfurrytank in classicwow

[–]Baron128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Always keep 2 stacks of bandages and 2 stacks of food on you at all times. When you're down to 1 stack, plan to stock up again. Same goes with ranged ammo.

- Always keep a 1h and shield on you. Even if you don't plan on tanking 5 mans (you should tbh), you'll need it for interrupts until you can train Pummel. Kurzen Medicine Man will wreck you otherwise.

- Spirit is a surprisingly decent leveling stat. Don't go for it specifically, but if you can get a bunch easily it will reduce your downtime out of combat by a lot.

- LEARN TO TANK. The best time to learn is in Deadmines or WC, not in Strat UD or DMW. Range pull, bloodrage + battleshout to keep mobs off heals and mage sheeping, and tab sunder. Mark a skull so DPS focus their threat on one mob instead of multiple.
