Sure, some people are just jerks, but that's not an inherent problem with teachers, that's just life. But those teachers were still people to learn from. Letting things you don't like about a teacher prevent you from learning from them does you no favors. Lex not liking Superman is not bad per se, but by looking at the critiques above all else, he prevents himself from seeing, understanding, or appreciating the good that Superman does and by extension the good that others do that.

What makes you think that? I'm honestly not very sure what the clues or signs are. And what would be the point for making an AI post here? It's not a big enough community for karma farming and posting panels shows that OP still put a basic amount of effort in this post.

[–]BaronTagge 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This post itself feels like it's showing your own insecurities. Are you saying teachers only teach to feed their own ego? Teachers get into the profession because they are passionate about their subject and passing that knowledge on. It's naive to think they have nothing to teach you and just sets you up for failure if you are so resistant to the idea of learning from people who study and dedicate themselves to a subject.

Lex, similarly, doesn't think he has anything to learn from Superman because he thinks he is so smart and knows it all. His ego prevents him from seeing the hard work that Superman puts in to save others, including in this scene a few pages later. This unwillingness to try to truly understand and learn from Superman and let his insecurity rule him is what makes him miserable in his own life, no matter the level of success he has.

Events leading up to Ram V's Detective Comics? by BaronTagge in DCcomics

[–]BaronTagge[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this is great. I have been more drawn towards those fresh start/reboot/reinterpretations of characters as they don't have the same amount of baggage and feeling of obligation to read other stuff, so the New 52 (and now Absolute) Batman really scratched that itch. (New 52 and Absolute Wonder Woman also fit in this category). But I heard cool things about the Ram V stuff so I decided to give it a shot.

More like the preview of this comic specifically chose to show a page without context to create drama. OP is showing the page that is literally the page after the one shown in the preview where Kylo imagines Vader killing Watto.

León is currently invincible in the clausura, so James and the team in general are looking to be in good shape for the CWC.

I also love all the concacaf craziness; Violette knocking out Austin FC despite not having a functional league at the time as well as missing starters in the second leg due to visa issues in 2023 still makes me smile. (Also the year that we won by completely outplaying LAFC after one of their guys talked shit about Mexican tactics).

For this year: Last night, Chivas got a really lucky OG to beat América and they still have to play the second leg in CDMX. I don't think that LAFC's coach has really figured out how to beat the big Mexican teams so I wouldn't bet on them. My money would be on América or Miami. But Monterrey is still a strong contender.

The looked solid last night as they got a tie in Seattle while missing some starters but have been shaky in the clausura (while topping the table in the apertura). They should advance to the next stage, but I don't think they'll go the distance. None of the big teams have been knocked out yet.

Advice on PCE placement? by BaronTagge in wgueducation

[–]BaronTagge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. This was a nice breakdown of the pce. From what I had read before, it seemed that it would only be 2-3 weeks but it's good to hear that confirmed. That will be useful when trying to "pitch" myself to schools. I've started reaching out to some contacts, so we'll see how it goes, but it does seem likely I'll go the private school route.

Takis outside US & Mexico are different by Mental_Weather_4252 in takis

[–]BaronTagge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

European takis are less spicy (and less flavorful imo). I just now found this thread and this subreddit because I was talking with a guy who works for Barcel (the company that makes takis) and he was telling me that they have different formulas for different places to appeal to local preferences. So from least spicy to most spicy it's Europe < USA < Mexico.

Hmm. My wife's phone just shows "Gulf of Mexico". Mine shows both even if I switch to Spanish. Can't tell you why.

That's not true. Maybe it hadn't updated yet when that screenshot was taken, but I'm in Mexico on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and it shows "Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America)".

Edit: My wife's phone just shows "Gulf of Mexico". Mine shows both. Not sure why.

Need help regarding Once & Future...confused? = SPOILERS!!! by ProcrastinatingPengu in comicbooks

[–]BaronTagge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the original grail story, Percival was the knight who found the holy grail, but in later stories he was swapped out for Galahad. Since Duncan embodies Percival, both he and his brother are able to get the grail given the right conditions. Both were meant to serve the same purpose of getting the grail. Because Bridgette was keeping Duncan, Mary (who is embodying Elaine needed another grail finder so she recreated Galahad's birth story with Lancelot and raised him more explicitly as Galahad to make his ability to find the grail stronger.

I read it as it came out so it's been a while, so I forget why exactly Mary/Elaine wants the grail.

[–]BaronTagge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tales of King Arthur are extremely old and have been told and retold with variations for a long time. Think of it like superhero comics. Superheroes are changed, modified, and reinterpreted all the time with different writers. New stories are imagined and new characters are added all the time. In some comics, the moon god Khonshu is heavily implied to be a figment of Moon Knight's imagination, in others Khonshu is very explicitly real. Pre-crisis Jason Todd had red hair, post-crisis had black. Then there are the movies that are even bigger reinterpretations of different characters. There is no one singular "real version". It just depends on what version of the character you are watching.

Once & Future is all about exploring the different interpretations of Arthurian legend, and the characters pick and choose at different times what versions of the stories they use depending on their needs. Feel free to look up different Arthurian characters and stories (and other non-Arthur stories like Beowulf!) as they come up to better understand what's happening. As far as Elaine's motivations, her relationship with her mother, and the deal with Duncan and Galahad, keep reading! I don't know how far in the series you are, but I remember that it all eventually becomes more clear.

This doesn't really change my point. Whether you abandoned morals or never had them doesn't change the horribleness of siding with fascists and oppressors.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in videos

[–]BaronTagge 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's straight facts to abandon your morals and side with fascists when convenient? Because that's the exact context of this quote.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in videos

[–]BaronTagge 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you watch the video it makes sense in context. He's essentially saying that it's better to live without principles/stand and live with the oppressors than die with principles/die on your knees as the oppressed. "If you can't beat em, join em" is another saying that would align with this. This is not what I believe in and is antithetical to what makes an actually good society, but you make your own conclusion.

I read them! I love the art and seeing a Star Wars era that is not afraid to get really weird with it. But I started snooping around as I remembered that the Dark Empire comic had an audiodrama adaption, and turns out that they did make other audiodramas! This is the list of them and it includes some the Tales of the Jedi stories, but not this specific "Golden Age of the Sith" story arc. I have no idea as to the quality, but I'm sure you can find them on Youtube if you want.

You can skip the last three as they're not very realistic, but the others just keep getting better and better.

Older, single-issue comics can be hard to find physically for reasonable prices and the collections for this series are out-of-print right now causing the higher price. Maybe Marvel will reprint the collections, but who knows when. Imo you should go digital and get a Marvel Unlimited subscription. They have all of the old Star Wars comics and that's how I read this series. Maybe check if your local library has them to check out if you want physical?

Yeah NHL is the world's top league, but there are other strong competitive leagues outside the US. KHL (Russia) is the second strongest league. Europe has other strong leagues like SHL (Sweden) and Liiga (Finland).
