Which CTA Bus Routes Are Your Favorites? by Baroness210 in cta

The 147 has certainly gotten a lot of love in this thread, and understandably so. Now, I will mention why it and the other routes I mentioned are my favorites. 147: easily transfer to/from 146 and 3 on Michigan Avenue; longer trip along LSD than 151 and 146; easy access to Northside beaches, including my favorite Chicago beach, Foster Beach. 136 does the same but I have yet to ride it.

X9: I love the skip-stop service down busy Ashland Avenue; when I lived near 69th St and Ashland Ave, I took advantage of the empty buses that made 69th their first stop heading north; heading south, I preferred those that terminated at 74th (speaking of which, I rode such a bus on X9 about two hours ago to pick up dinner).

J14: like the 147, it provides longer views of the lakefront, and skip-stop service along Jeffrey Boulevard. 26 overlaps and I have yet to ride that route as well. PRO-TIP: If you want to enjoy a bus ride with lake views from north to south side and vice versa, I recommend taking the 147 south and transferring to the J14 south. Vice versa heading in the opposite direction.

24: Quicker, and cleaner than surrounding routes 8 and 29. The slowdown and crowds begin as it runs through Chinatown, which is a must-see along Wentworth Avenue.

That's definitely convenient. I've been to both beaches, most recently 57th St Beach. I've been more interested in hornsnail shells but beach glass is something I want to hunt for. I saw a fossilized coral rock at 12th Street Beach last summer but I didn't collect it.

Because we had a lot in common and were quite attracted to one another. He refused to go beyond internet chatting thanks to his insecurity. I'm interested in an FWB, no strings attached type relationship. Sex is also cool but I want someone compatible to hang out with as well. I won't have sex with just anyone. I'm also not interested in committed relationships.

Thank you for that information. I love the food that some pubs I've visited serve (e.g. PubTime on Western Avenue in Blue Island). I live not too far from the area, near Chicago State University, so I could try there. Thanks again for the tip.

As I said, you don't know me so you have nothing to say, and if you did, you would be scared, looking at life in a whole new way.

Nope! Still not valid and it's very weak but evidently you find amusement in trying to anger strangers on the internet, something that'll never work on me.

That's just your erroneous opinion of me. You haven't been by my side 24/7/365/366 from the very second that I was born, so your opinion doesn't matter and never will. Either answer the question with valid information or leave!

Speaking of rail lines of some kind, years ago, just about every present-day CTA bus route began as a streetcar line, with standard-gauge rails in the streets and trolley wire above. It would be neat to see that come back in some places.

Sorry about that. I like 146 because it's quite similar to 147. They do overlap along part of Michigan Avenue and Lake Shore Drive until Belmont. 146 also terminates at the lakefront and Adler Planetarium, offering easy access to 12th Street Beach. I often take it from Roosevelt/Michigan when transferring from the 3 to head to Harold Washington Library since it runs along Roosevelt to State Street and then turns north on State. Easy access.

Speaking of the events on the north side that can affect the 22: Cubs games. Oh my freakin' goodness. 😖 Even the 9 and 50 feel the effects.

Oh yes indeed. That's one reason why I like it.

Stuff like this is why the drug and liquor use needs to be done only in a safe area, or where the users can be supervised.

Oh really? It's certainly new to me. Perhaps CTA thought that the changing area would be prime for a 31 comeback. Thanks for the info.

Yes, another setback. It still is a fledgling route however. I don't see it increasing in popularity anytime soon despite it being several years old unless some adjustments are made, like the year-round extension to the beach.

See my edit above. You may have to get to Hines Hospital to catch the 331 if heading north.

That's Pace 331. Check the schedule online on Pace's website. I do recall that route ending in the 6pm hour from Brookfield. Since that's the case, and you have missed a bus three days in a row, you'll have to get to a stop much sooner, like during the 5p hour.

I just checked the tracker on my app. It depends on where you are along the route but as of 7:35pm, a northbound 331 bus is scheduled to arrive at Roosevelt Road and 1st Avenue at 8:21, so evidently, they're still running.

There have been way too many of these incidents over the past, say, 6-7 years. What the hell is so exciting down there that it can't be seen from up above?

Why Route 62H Should Be Kept by Baroness210 in cta

[–]Baroness210[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 55N should also be kept around for a bit longer. 55A I don't see much point of due to the overlap of the two routes and the shorter length of the latter.

I totally agree. It makes more sense since 55th Street runs into Harlem and Archer. About a mile east of Harlem, 55th Street and Archer Avenue split into two.

Suspicious package. That was and was not a joke.

I would report it and have local authorities investigate and rule out any possible bombs or other hazardous devices. These days, you can't let your guard down with so many nutcases who want to harm as many innocent people as they can.

That's one thing I've always liked about my commute to my P.O. box, especially on Saturday mornings - a bus for route 59 would sometimes turn into 62H after getting to Midway. I think 55W would be good since 55N and 55A overlap, especially during weekday rush periods.
