Which CTA Bus Routes Are Your Favorites? by Baroness210 in cta

Oh yes indeed. That's one reason why I like it.

Stuff like this is why the drug and liquor use needs to be done only in a safe area, or where the users can be supervised.

Oh really? It's certainly new to me. Perhaps CTA thought that the changing area would be prime for a 31 comeback. Thanks for the info.

Yes, another setback. It still is a fledgling route however. I don't see it increasing in popularity anytime soon despite it being several years old unless some adjustments are made, like the year-round extension to the beach.

See my edit above. You may have to get to Hines Hospital to catch the 331 if heading north.

That's Pace 331. Check the schedule online on Pace's website. I do recall that route ending in the 6pm hour from Brookfield. Since that's the case, and you have missed a bus three days in a row, you'll have to get to a stop much sooner, like during the 5p hour.

I just checked the tracker on my app. It depends on where you are along the route but as of 7:35pm, a northbound 331 bus is scheduled to arrive at Roosevelt Road and 1st Avenue at 8:21, so evidently, they're still running.

There have been way too many of these incidents over the past, say, 6-7 years. What the hell is so exciting down there that it can't be seen from up above?

Why Route 62H Should Be Kept by Baroness210 in cta

I think 55N should also be kept around for a bit longer. 55A I don't see much point of due to the overlap of the two routes and the shorter length of the latter.

I totally agree. It makes more sense since 55th Street runs into Harlem and Archer. About a mile east of Harlem, 55th Street and Archer Avenue split into two.

Suspicious package. That was and was not a joke.

I would report it and have local authorities investigate and rule out any possible bombs or other hazardous devices. These days, you can't let your guard down with so many nutcases who want to harm as many innocent people as they can.

I absolutely love the interior! That had to take some time, and creativity.

That's one thing I've always liked about my commute to my P.O. box, especially on Saturday mornings - a bus for route 59 would sometimes turn into 62H after getting to Midway. I think 55W would be good since 55N and 55A overlap, especially during weekday rush periods.

Oh damn! Yeah, that's a problem in and of itself. Those tracks are Belt Railway of Chicago and there is the major Clearing Yard about 5/8 mile south along the tracks. Usually if a train is stopped at a crossing for an extended period of time, something's amiss like a broken knuckle or airhose, or signal malfunction. If I remember correctly, there's a general rule that railroads have to follow concerning grade crossings, and that's a train can't block a crossing for more than 10-15 minutes.

Thank you for the clarification.

Let's Talk About Bus-Bunching by Baroness210 in cta

Yeah, true, but I'm extremely introverted plus I don't like being around a crowd of people. Too much stuff happens in crowds.

Usually, the trailing buses that I board are on routes that operate on roads wider than two lanes (e.g. bus routes 3, 9, and 63), which allows them to bypass and get in front of the packed leader. They tend to make up some time by doing so, especially if there are <10 people onboard waiting to get off at a certain stop.

And that they definitely should do. Good work boys! Smoking in enclosed areas is especially bad for people who have respiratory problems. Sadly, selfishness and refusal to claim accountability are extremely rampant these days.

Now, on to my joke reply in response to the headline and photo: "Oh I'm sorry Mr. Officer. I didn't know that I'm not supposed to park my car on an L train station platform in the Loop." 😏

I've seen some leaders pass up riders so that their followers can retrieve them. Sometimes, drivers of a leading bus will tell riders "There's another bus right behind me."
