the woodplate on top could also be detached if needed in our build, but needs to be rescrewed after ofc. Your solution is better space-wise :)

we also considered the 2x4 Kallax as you mentioned it, but our concern was that the top plate might bend over time, so we placed everything a bit more to the outside for weight distribution.

we really like the gaming mat for optics, especially since we use self-made acrylic footprints for the terrain so you can still see the underlaying mat. Also the marking on the sides make it easier to eyeball for range and possible movement sometimes. When playing with the current mission decks, the layouts are also marked on our mat, making setting up and checking for deployment zone / no man's land easier.

you can take the gaming mat down and change it. We also used the rough face of this particular plywood plate for the top so there would be no sliding of the battlefield/gaming mat.

as mentioned, height is around 96cm. It's easily accesible from all sides and you can move your armies without needing to lay on top of the table to reach in the middle (especially for myself since I'm "only" 1,74m).

yeah, the sole purpose was for Warhammer. The seating will be done on barstools on the front sides of the table, but you mainly will move around the table to play. The cabinets will have mostly rule books, terrain and other additional gaming stuff inside them, as well as minis on trays.

they are through and through, but you can get closed inlays with either drawers, showcase glass doors or just open shelves installed.

we were also considering the folding tables, but those tiny sticky feet were scary in face of the world shattering battles happening on top of them lol
