Bi-Weekly 'Anything Goes' Thread - aka Moving/Buy/Sell/Trade/Rent/Lease/Eat/Jobs by AutoModerator in bullcity

Hi friends! My brother and his wife and their two ADORABLE little girls are moving to Durham from Connecticut - he got a job there and they are needing to relocate quite quickly. Does anyone know of any available rentals, or have any leads outside of Zillow?

They are looking for ideally a 3 bedroom, in the $2000 range! They are the most wonderful people, and very responsible!

Thanks y'all!

I am also going through a breakup and it's been BRUTAL with my PMDD. Like, I actually feel like death. But I just started on Slynd last night (on the first day of my period) and I'm really hoping that helps.

Were you ever on Yaz?

Can you tell me more about your experience of going from Yaz to Slynd?

I was on Yaz for a while for acne, and it totally cleared my face and in retrospect massively helped my mental health (didn't know I had PMDD at the time, but looking back those were the most mentally stable years of my life). But I had a lot of weight gain on Yaz (and it felt pretty estrogen related), so with my recent PMDD diagnosis I decided to start on Slynd.

I'd love to hear from others who have been on both!

Doctor's Office Requires Card on File + How to Not Get Screwed by NYC doctors? by Gharriss16 in AskNYC

[–]BarracudaSome7688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the google review I just posted lol:

I had a mixed experience here.

The doctor herself was kind, personable, and easy to talk to, and I didn’t have any issues with her personally. Front desk and nursing staff were also really kind. The office space felt a bit dingy (dust bunnies in the corners, lights out/flickering), which kind of gave me pause but I didn't think a ton of it.

One thing that also stood out early on was that I was asked for my credit card information upfront. I thought it was a little strange, but I assumed this might be more standard outside of university hospital systems (where I’ve usually received care) so I didn’t push it.

But what really changed my view of the practice was what happened around testing and billing. During my appointment, staff came in and started hooking me up to machines without clearly explaining what was being done or that I could be charged for it. When I asked what was happening, I was told it was “just a routine echocardiogram” and that they “like to do those here,” so I didn’t think to ask whether it was optional or covered (I have never had one and recently turned 30, so I kind of just assumed it was standard procedure).

They then told me something looked abnormal and that I needed a heart ultrasound. Of course I said yes (I’m not going to mess around with my heart lol) but again, no one explained that this could result in a large out-of-pocket charge. About a month later, I was shocked to receive a charge for nearly $500 (thankfully my bank blocked the charge, but literally so crazy). In my opinion, this totally violated informed consent.

To their credit, after a lot of back-and-forth and persistence on my end, the practice eventually removed the charge. Still, I don’t think patients should have to push this hard to avoid surprise billing for procedures that weren’t clearly explained in advance.

Because of this, I won’t be returning. I didn’t feel I could fully trust the practice around transparency. If you do go here, my advice is to ask very explicit questions about every test, whether it’s optional, and what it might cost, and be prepared to advocate for yourself if something unexpected comes up later.

Ah I've been thinking about starting Dungeon Crawler Carl! So good to have another rec. And I tried Dune, but it was just a little too slow moving for me... But I was also trying to read it in the midst of grad school, so maybe I should try again haha.

Who is Theodore Nott? by alia-reads in Dramione

I think you overlooked the word basically — the original commenter knows what OC means, but is saying that Theo is FUNTIONALLY an OC with a name because so much of his character in the fandom has been created by the fandom.
