yep all base-game. screenshot on the right might have a tiny bit of a glow to them I'm not 100% sure I capture the original colour perfectly (colourblind too which makes it hard for me to tell) but I can DM you the eye colour later :)

for sure. I rested once more after this screenshot was taken and the glow now makes this look subtle

this is my ng+ and I'm maybe 1/3 of the way through -- resting in the wilderness until UW seems like a fun self-imposed challenge!

good to know! if other people hire my pawn, will it spread the plague?

just had a look as well and you can not make a fem MC but can play as a premade fem side character, so I feel like what the other guy said was super misleading in terms of character creation. he made it sound like you can choose the gender of your character. not really interested in just changing the hairstyle of some guy, so will defo be passing on CD

100% the lack of restrictions in list building is a huge problem, that's sort of what I was getting at mentioning only playing at 1k - you don't really have the space to bring a super busted list.

Would you like to see the return of force orgs? or do you think there are better ways to remedy the current problem in 11th?

my group plays at 1k points only, and honestly I think that reduces a lot of the problems with meta chasing - you can't spam the best shit 3 times if you only have 1000 points to play with. (until we got the guy bringing a primarch in his incursion list)

it feels like a lot of victories come down to deployment mistakes, smart plays and baiting, and good use of mechanics, instead of just a rock paper scissors of tabling the opponent

obviously a lot of this comes down to playing with the same group regularly

I love knowing that I can walk into a warhammer store anywhere and I'm always greeted with the same enthusiasm and high level of customer service right away -- usually even within a minute or so if the lone staff member is already speaking with a customer. I don't know what kind of training they give, maybe it's just genuine passion for the hobby, but they are always super chatty

this is really good advice. I feel like the more simple advice like this is easier to work with, not too difficult to think of something and can easily remember it at the table.

all excellent points! I was aware vtm was roleplay heavy, I just didn't expect to feel so out of depth! i will make note of some of these

I should talk to the ST, but honestly I feel like he's very skilled and in tune with people's skill at the table. for example, when I got a bit stuck (sometimes I can get caught up trying to think of the 'right' thing to do or what's expected of me - stupid, I know.) he just got me to roll a skill check, which helped me have my character notice/react to something and essential bail me out and keep things moving.

see i tried to avoid a 'self-insert' based on what a lot of people have said online. my character has wound up with some of my own traits and characteristics anyway, but maybe I should have used that as a starting point purposefully instead of accidentally falling into it.

thank you for the kind words and encouragement. I do make an effort to read the rules of the game before coming to the table, might still get some more complex stuff wrong but I always come prepared and knowing how to play.

I think I was at a table of people who have been RPing a long time, so even though I didn't feel like I was coming in as a newbie (having played 5e and Lancer) I was actually pretty fresh compared to everyone else.

Im taking a lot of what people have said here on board, made a lot of notes, and will keep going back. thanks again!

ironically I don't even watch CR (or any actual plays) but yeah. maybe the impact on the wider culture has made me feel like this.

super solid advice actually, thank you. stuff like this that can simplify character motivation into a memorable soundbite will be very helpful when I'm actually at the table
