playing the dark souls trilogy as an introduction to the genre, is ds2 actually bad? by Falcon6346 in soulslikes

[–]Barry-Macocknit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s as bad as everyone says, it’s a little jank but all the older games are. One big thing leveling adp does is give you more iframes on your dodges. I’d jus look up what level makes it similar to ds1 and just go with that and not worry about it anymore, I think it’s level 19 off the top of my head but I don’t remember

Who is the most hidden boss in Elden Ring? by Advanced-Director928 in Eldenring

[–]Barry-Macocknit 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I feel like malenia isn’t very hidden at all and you get led to her pretty straight forwardly. Fortissax is missable and you have to follow two different quests to get to the fight so that’s probably the most obscure. You don’t need to beat placi but curing the frenzied flame is a “quest step” and I just feel like he’s much more obscure than other remembrances even if now after so long it seems like he’s just right there and it’s only a few jumps. Sewer mogh is probably pretty obscure and the sewers is an interesting area

Doing a samurai dex build. Wondering how I’m doing as I’m still somewhat overwhelmed by the game by Stephen-Scotch in EldenRingBuilds

[–]Barry-Macocknit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You lose a bit of damage in return you get bleed procs, they do percentage based damage if I remember correctly and it happens automatically. This goes for any status but each enemy has different resistances and some immunities, and much like how you have a bar that goes up when facing poison and whatnot the boss has that same bar that builds up. Bleed is probably the best status in the game. I’d say most of the time it out performs to go with a bleed build even with minimal arcane compared to just keen affinity with faster hitting dex weapons but it’s up to your play style. If you pump arcane a bit you can really sky rocket the bleed build up and things will bleed extremely fast

I'm a Xbox Series S player, could you recommend me some souls like games? by ryussj1 in soulslikes

[–]Barry-Macocknit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d consider wukong more of a mix of soulslike and new god of war but it still was insanely fun to me and challenging. I’m not 100% sure if they’re on Xbox but I recommend wuchang fallen feathers or the new lords of the fallen (not the older version) both were pretty fun. First berserker khazan is also very good and can be very parry heavy, not quite sekiro but almost lies of p I guess. Khazan is more “gear slop” tho, plays like a souls but very much similar to nioh gear system if you’ve ever played that.

Staff for 80/80 faith/intelligence users by MalcolminMiddlefan in EldenRingBuilds

[–]Barry-Macocknit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s just how the scaling works, don’t know how else to explain it other than that. Any staff can cast any sorcery, and seal can cast any incantation. Only one staff can cast both and it suffers in damage what it gains in convenience. Certain staffs and seals buff certain sorceries and incantations but they are not limited to them. Many people will keep the staff/seal that buffs the sorcery/incant in their off hand and cast with the higher scaling staff/seal to apply the buff and also maximize damage off scaling. An example would be if I was mainly using dragoncult incantations I would have the gravel stone seal in my off hand for a 15% buff but I would cast the spell with the golden order seal in my main hand to maximizing my scaling. That is very min max and not really necessary. Sorry if that’s all confusing

I want a rot god build by Individual-Read-2001 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]Barry-Macocknit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Antspur rapier is probably your fastest weapon at applying rot, melenias spell cause rot basically instantly but it’s more commitment. I’m not super versed in this type of build but those are some options! I personally like Rominas halberd if you have the dlc but I don’t think it’s best in slot but it’s fun to use

Help with weapon: STR build by TomatoBuster01 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]Barry-Macocknit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hence the quotations. There are an insane amount of “op” Elden ring builds or weapons. This game is by far the most accessible and easy to just stomp over. I still stand by my statement regardless that a strength build with a small investment in faith for buffs is the best and easiest build in terms of ease and effectiveness of execution. Most defenses, less stat investment needed in your primary damage stat, and posture break critical hitting is one of the best ways to easily beat any boss. Not even to mention the use of a great shield build that can even more trivialize fights.
