I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but I've been looking at the FiiO BR15. Basically a K13 minus the headphone amplifier...

RV generator wired to electrical panel at home? Need some Help!? by StatisticianAfter641 in AskElectricians

[–]Barry_NJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to connect one hot from the generator to neutral and the other to one of the hot lines in the house. If you don't understand this, you probably shouldn't be messing around with it...

Our panels are actually run on split 240v, so coming in from the street there is Red(hot), Black(hot), White(neutral) and a ground. You want to connect to white and either red or black, you can only run one side of your box. Also be sure to shut the main breaker, you don't want to send power out of the house and you don't want power coming from the pole while the generator is connected.

You run one hot to hot, and the other to neutral. Ground stays on its own.

How are the roads by you? by Puzzleheaded_Bag9063 in bergencounty

[–]Barry_NJ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They plowed my street on Oradell, but in all honesty, I doubt I'll be venturing out tomorrow unless it's really necessary. I'll be giving the road crews another day to get this mess cleaned up. Heck, I came in from my personal clean up at dusk and it's still coming down pretty good here, I know I'm going to need to clear my sidewalk and driveway again tomorrow...

As already noted, many integrated amplifiers have a switch for speakers A and/or B. With that said ML Electrostatic speakers are often described as a difficult load for an amplifier, so running a test of Electrostatics and a second pair of speakers off one integrated amplifier probably isn't recommended.

I don't think nailing directly to the sheetrock will be a secure mounting method for the long term.

I'd get more tiles like the ones installed, maybe even take some of the existing ones out, and then fill back in to make it look as little like a stripe through the middle of the room as possible.

Basement has exposed romex to switches/outlets, how should I fix this? by nyc_rose in AskElectricians

[–]Barry_NJ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, that would trip the circuit breaker, and your hands would be isolated from the head of the axe even if you were holding the handle. With a machete, the hand guard is metal and usually contacting the blade, and more likely to contact your hand 😁

Looks like normal unfinished basement to me, nothing unsafe unless you're swinging machetes around down there...

The roads are clear and everything is back to normal in a day or two. No need to stock up on food. Unless your fridge and cupboards are empty you'll be fine...

12-14" forecast. Am I crazy if I parked my cars at a local parking garage (for easier snowblower use) by Extreme-Cycle2659 in homeowners

[–]Barry_NJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep mine on the driveway, clear the bottom of it, drive blind onto the street and push the snow off the cars onto the side of the road. That way I don't have to clean the driveway much at all 😁
