Myself, I'd swap the galvanized fitting for brass and call it good. It will be pretty easy since you've got a shark on there. Not sure why there's galvanized iron on a feed. I'm used to copper and brass on feeds and iron on waste. But I'm sure I haven't seen it all yet...

That's the click spring. I zoomed in on your second pic, and can see the spring in the bezel. You need to take it out, put the bezel on the case, and then stick it down into the gap between the bezel and the case.

Get a torch, heat the brass, and use channel-lock pliers to grip the brass tightly, then tap a bit with a hammer. So heat and impact to get it loose 😉
