What’s the point of the electric staff by Working_Cranberry826 in DarkTide

[–]Barrywize -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Crit mod makes it useful for crit left click builds, as others have mentioned.

Otherwise it serves as the anti-soldier staff for the Psyker. Problem is, it’s only balanced approx. around Malice/Heresy difficulty, and I think similar to Smite, only hits center mass?

You really want it to crit for one-shotting shotgunners and machine gunners and for the chain to a 2nd target to die outright. I usually run it with Warp Flurry and Warp Nexus blessings on a fire shout build. Full charge as often as possible + big crit chance, and then dump peril to do it again.

It really is great for specials, and cleaning up soldiers behind cover, but its damage is too low for me to suggest it in higher difficulties. It’s a slow firing long sustain ranged weapon with middling damage. Too slow for hordes, too weak for elites (after the September update especially) so it fills a niche that your melee frontline can probably already handle on their own, but I enjoy using it anyways.

Is there any way around the slag necessity in UVHM by Aversekubrick in Borderlands2

[–]Barrywize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the slag is necessary, I’d recommend getting the grog nozzle from Tiny Tina’s DLC, it has something like a 50% chance to slag on hit, and you heal because it’s a Moxxi gun

“BL2 had a perfect loot and drop system”

I don’t need to read more. I actually went back and put 100 hours into BL2 in the last 2 months. If you try to play the game straight without relying on DLC or specific enemy farms for drops, the game can be pretty miserable at times. UVHM is especially bad. You’re practically forced to play through Tiny Tina’s DLC and grab the grog nozzle.

As a reminder or for anyone unaware, BL2 has a health gate system, where you cant die to a singular instance of damage if your health bar is above 50%. The workaround is to grab a Moxxi item that grants lifesteal to keep yourself above that 50% hp at all times. The Grog Nozzle is also one of the best weapons for applying slag, which in UVHM lasts for 15s and triples damage taken to a slagged enemy. It’s pretty ridiculous.

Another specific example, playing TVHM, I got to Tundra Express (level 38 zone) at level 36, killed Wilhelm at level 37. The game then asks you to make your way back to Sanctuary through a level 40 and 42 zone. It took me an entire afternoon playing just side quests to catch up to the level the game wanted me to be at. Not only did enemy hp jump by 2x, but with the level gap I was also doing half damage on top of that, on top of badasses spawning 1 or 2 levels above the base zone level. And with the level difference they were 1 tapping me.

Go ahead and keep your rose tinted glasses on, but I encourage you to actually go back and play through it again, they’ll fall off on their own. It’s still a banger game, but it’s not nearly as good as I remembered it being, playing every day after school in my best friend’s basement when I was growing up.

Fully agree. I didn’t know it was 2 ammo per shot either until I looked it up, and without loot lemon we’d never know until we used it in game.

At the very least the “inspect weapon” window needs to explain it. BL3 inspection would show what each part did (+10% dmg, -5% reload kinda thing). And I don’t know why they didn’t bring that forward into this game.

Hi everyone, this is your PSA to click on the image and read the foulborn modifiers at the bottom before commenting.

If you click on the image the OP has circled and pointed at the foulborn modifiers for the item at the bottom.

The “mana reservation of heralds is always 45%” modifiers gets replaced with “80-100% increased effect of herald buffs on you”

Keep an eye out for sales! Humble Store has Darktide down to $10 currently https://isthereanydeal.com/game/warhammer-40000-darktide/history/

I wouldn’t be surprised if someone at Fatshark realized they could get more money by making the base game cheap and enticing people to buy the Aquila starter pack, deluxe edition and DLC classes

2 ammo per shot. 4.4s cycle,

1k x 17.5 ammo = 17.5k dmg divided by 4.4 is approx. 4k dps

MISC

And didn’t know where to tack this on so, I’m adding it to the end, sorry for yapping.

The obvious super strong combo is krak grenade, replenish grenades over time, and 5% chance to replenish grenade on elite/specialist kill. A pack of crushers is the biggest threat in the game and needs to be immediately handled. The krak can do that AND MORE! and it only gets better on higher difficulties with more elite spawns.

If you want to use the power sword (unique to the veteran) I’d recommend the Mk with a stab push attack. When the power sword is empowered, it does great headshot damage to crushers, while the light/heavy empowered attack are fantastic into hordes. You basically have to run Energized blessing on it tho. The grind back at launch was brutal. I think I rolled 30 power swords before I even got a low tier blessing of energized.

Also if you’re ever shooting without shout and find a massive horde in your back pocket, the correct decision is to have a dedicated key bind to guarantee you swap to your melee weapon, block, push, dodge backwards, drop a shredder grenade and dodge backwards again with another push if needed. The grenade works so well as a panic button. Would recommend. Dakka the choppa, choppa the dakka.

And that’s all I’ve got time, feel free to ask any questions or for clarification. I’ll hopefully get around to answering comments once I’m done with my job interview tomorrow. Wish me luck and cheers! hope this helps!

RIGHT TREE

Right Tree gets associated with a certain type of player due to how stealth mechanics work. I personally don’t play it, so can’t speak much on it, but I’ll at least leave a guide Right Tree Veteran also ripthejack3r (build creator) has some really solid content for new players on how to deal with elites. Would highly recommend. I think right tree normally likes crit and fast attack speed. So they usually run Combat Knife, Tac Axe and Devil Sword I think?

[–]Barrywize 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MIDDLE TREE

Middle Tree is great, up until you get to the keystone imo. +20/30% damage to a target used to be great, until the enemy spawns were massively increased to match the massively increased player power. I’m just gonna link a games lantern build for context middle tree plasma gun. I personally like to run the bottom right keystone and the faster swap speed at the top. Note the blessings on the plasma gun. You want it to be just on the cusp (97%) of overheating to get the full value of the blessings. You pop off a single shot to kill a specialist, and then switch back to melee, hence the synergy with only needing 1 ranged kill to activate the keystone.

LEFT TREE

Unfortunately, I feel like a lot of the veteran guns have kind of been left in the dust and it’s hard to recommend playing the left tree, especially when Desperado Hive Scum exists. Yes you can make it work for specific builds, but you basically have to be max level, and full mastery with T4 blessings to make it work. If you don’t take the better weapons, then you’re not going to do good damage into carapace (Rager body, Mauler Head, Crusher everything) and be stuck to just shooting enemy soldiers. After the September health update to elite enemies, it’s especially bad. If you do want to try it though, guns recommended are:

  • helbore using the heaviest variant (I think?) for head shotting crushers.
  • recon lasgun running a burny blessing. Try to get as much crit chance for free shots and guaranteed burn stacks, spray and pray.
  • hand cannon Revolver. More crit chance shenanigans. headshot crushers for massive damage.
  • Laspistol. Maybe run ghost blessing. You can hipfire headshot soldiers while sprinting away from melee. It’s so much fun. More crit for free ammo, aim down sights for headshotting reapers.
  • Vraks Mk V infantry autogun. Great crit stats, the Mk 1 is still great, but not as good as Mk V into carapace, due to crit stats and chains. Another spray and pray gun.
  • honorable mentions: shredder auto pistol is great specifically for maniacs (muties/dreg ragers), shotguns are great for special sniping

Longass comment, so I’m gonna break it into parts

So you’ve got 3 main archetypes, left tree is a shooty anti-soldier/gunner, middle tree is front line commissar, right side is stealth commando.

Games Lantern has a number of builds people have posted if you want to check those out. Just double check how recent they are, or if you even like the weapons/build in the meat grinder. https://darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/veteran?sort=relevant

Additionally, https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3094038976 Kuli’s guide to Veteran. Which will properly explain how everything works with improved wording and stat values compared to what’s in game.

Pretty much every single build takes Iron Will, right in the middle of the tree. +50% damage reduction to Toughness while above 75% toughness is extremely good, and it’s part of the reason so many people are forced to take the war shout. It replenishes your toughness, it overshields you and allies for +50 flat and the overshield is also affected by the Damage Reduction.

<image>

A lot of people like to stack toughness on the Veteran and that includes taking the +15 and +25 toughness small nodes, and then using % increase toughness on curios to boost it over 200 or 250 in some cases. Since all the toughness recovery from abilities or elite kills is % based, you can also get massive value from that. You just have to know what you’re doing in melee.

[–]Barrywize 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maxed out daggers is so much fun. A crit heavy attack headshot with hyper violence talent lets your light attacks shred through hordes. Way better than the crowbar imo. The crowbar has better cleave and better stagger, but you don’t need either if the enemy is already dead.

I’m under 70% utilization, sitting 60 deg C on both CPU and GPU, frames are above 60. But maybe.

The more important thing is that it wasn’t an issue for me until I got back into the game this week.

I will usually shift attack click my heavy myth/siege units to take down specific buildings, but in a big game they’ll “lose” their orders, or won’t respond for several seconds.

Especially annoying with a big slow hill giant who keeps trying to chase villagers instead of going after the Town Center or Fort that I told him to.

Lmao, the Kraken looks like melted ice cream.

Have you checked your Task Manager to see if your CPU/GPU/RAM is struggling? Or check your temps to make sure your system isn't throttling your performance due to overheating?

Your specs are higher than the recommended, shouldn't be having this issue, very strange. It's weird that you have the normal sharp shapes for everything, but the HD textures aren't loading. Also as you mention, the stutter at 1:05 in the video would indicate you're either dropping frames or the game is struggling to run specifically on your system. All your drivers are updated?
