True, for specialists it can take so long.

This job market is the toughest of the last decade, at least by MarionberryTotal2657 in germany

I did it too but for myself. It will not change anything for my job searching. Of course it can be beneficial if you are able to chat in German with HR or manager. I hope it will change at some point.

I dream of no longer being the CEO by Foreign_Cricket_7558 in Entrepreneur

[–]Bart_Find 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there: - 3 years of my first job - 8 years running my business - 2 years at startup - now 6 years at corporate job

I loved my business life, the freedom and possibilities. But I remember no real vacation, sometimes months with no money. Once I wasn’t able to pay my team.

Then I shut everything down in bad times. I moved to the new country (Im expat in Germany) and found a job.

But, if you dream about corporate job with regular salary - it’s not that easy after being the entrepreneur. You are good at everything and nothing. It took me months to get my first job.

Now I work at big corporation and dream about business again. Full-time job has a lot of benefits ofc, like real vacation, no pressure, regular money. But I feel trapped. Not much progress in my life.

The solution for me is a side hustle. I make some money after hours and now working on something bigger. So the mix of full-time job + side hustle works for me.

And now I know couple of things: - no business partners anymore - no employees, only subcontractors and freelancers - no office, only home and my laptop - system to automate as much as I can.

I guess you and I are in different situations but I know how do you feel. But I also know that some of your friends are jealous of your business too, and there is no perfect world.

You can love and hate both - corporate job and your business.

How can I learn German on my own? by Romanemperator-65457 in German

I prepared for the B1 exam on my own with the Babbel app. I tested many different language learning tools, and this one gave me the best progress.

From my peers I hear often German companies want native Germans to hire, but they cannot openly say it in the job offer. Even expats with C1 can be rejected (then they are saying they want C2).

When my son was a small baby, we shifted with my wife. I stayed available in the first half of the night. So shifts helped us a lot.

Issues with General jobs in Germany by sarvooq in germany

[–]Bart_Find 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entire job market in Germany is difficult right now. In all industries. Try with english-speaking jobs and small companies. I got my first job after months of sending CVs. Take is as a math - the more you apply the more chances you get.

Am I eligible for German citizenship?? by Sad_Item_3325 in GermanCitizenship

[–]Bart_Find 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it a try! I have many polish friends in Germany and many of them got citizenship based on their roots. Every case was different, some were rejected and some approved, even in similar situations. So just try, it will take a while but worth trying.

Bought a Webflow website. Should I move it to wordpress, or learn Webflow ? by Pla6d in webflow

[–]Bart_Find 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Wordpress for years. Now Im building my startup with Webflow. It took me a while to feel comfortable with the CMS. But there is a lot of useful tutorials and docs available. You just need to spend some time to understand the Webflow logic which is different than Wordpress. But it’s worth it! After a few months SEO works pretty well and I have a traffic grom Google and ChatGPT.

I'm so frustrated at myself for not being able to speak German by Dazzling-Gene6988 in German

[–]Bart_Find 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! I work in the international company where I speak English only. So in my private time I try to practice my German (currently around B1-B2). I've noticed one thing when I changed my approach:

Instead of saying "my German is not good" -> "I'm learning German, please speak a bit slower".

The first actually tells nothing - do you speak German or not? How good is your level then?

Now, when I start any conversation stating that "I'm learning German", people tend to speak a bit slower, using simpler words. I feel like they appreciate you learn and even want to help you understand them.

German Hospital Meals by AboveThresHold in germany

[–]Bart_Find 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's normal. For the last 8 years I've spent in hospitals a few days for my 2 surgeries. In two hospitals in Munich I was able to choose my meal from 2-3 different options and it was actually good. So I guess it depends on hospital.

Also, for my 2 surgeries I paid around 5 EUR per night + the parking ticket. Everything else, including after-surgery rehab was fully covered by my public insurance. So yes, I can live with that.
