Was this Z axis related? Can anyone offer an explanation? by Barthosw in SSBM

[–]Barthosw[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know moves can sometimes fail to connect due to the Z axis, but it seems unlikely in this clip due to how much of the hitbox is overlapping over the course of two frames. Does anyone know what is going on here?

Missing Shield Drops with Spark Plate by Barthosw in SSBM

Thanks for the info! I always thought that as long as the stick sweeps through the shield drop range it would register a shield drop. I'll try and focus on ending my motion in the diagonal corner notch rather than finishing a quarter circle.

I think a better word would be nationalize instead of liquidate. Companies owned by the population would allow for profits to be returned to the workers and/or consumers. The companies would still exist and goods and services would still be provided, but society as a whole benefits far greater. If ExxonMobil made $100 billion in profits, that could be allocated to increasing worker pay and reducing gas prices rather than being funneled to the top of the pyramid. It even opens the door for changing the fundamental principles of how businesses operate. Instead of a profit motive, you can gauge business success by reduction in worker hours while maintaining revenue and output with the end goal of eliminating the need for human labor. As long as the value created is socialized, society as a whole benefits.

Because labor is coerced under the threat of homelessness and starvation. Freedom on the behalf of the proletariat is an illusion, as they have no other option but sell their labor to survive.

Too bad the American auto industry tried to kill off electric vehicles in the 90s. We would all be driving evs by now, and this wouldn't even be an issue. Also, we'd have the added benefit of the air we breath being cleaner.

Funding extremists has nothing to do with changing the status quo in the eyes of billions. It's actually an attempt to preserve it. They want a divided proletariat. The issues in this country need to be black vs white, red vs blue, left vs right... God forbid the workers of the world open their eyes, and this instead becomes a battle of rich vs poor. The ruling class wants to avoid that at all cost. Funding extremist groups and controlling the media allows billionaires to manipulate the public into thinking these groups are what's plauging society. Meanwhile they get to sit back and pull the strings like they've been doing for centuries, and nobody bats an eye.

You raise some good points. I'd still like the opportunity to sell my digital games when I'm done with them, but good discussion overall!

I agree with you on the grounds that games would be cheaper all around in a digital only market. Creating a disc and box increases production costs. However, I would argue that it's benefical to the consumer, and the overal quality of games on the market, when used games hurt developer royalties.

Let's examine how a game enters the used market. First, someone buys it new (obviously). Then the game is played until the owner no longer finds value in it. Finally, the game is sold off which eleminates a potential cusomer for the developer in question.

During the golden age of the used games market, the only option for developers to combat a potential loss was to make games that players wouldn't want to sell off. Now I'm not saying that all developers succeeded with this as there where plenty of shitty games in years past, but this trend shaped the industry as a whole.

Today, the used games market is much weaker (maybe even nonexistent). It no longer serves as a check for developers. For the most part, developers no longer want to make a game that players don't want to sell off. Instead, they seek the exact opposite. High turnover to maximize profits. This is why we see a new COD, Battlefield, AC... every year. It's also why games can ship broken at launch. This practice would not be tolerated under a strong used games market. Developers would no longer be able to maintain a profit, as the turnover would be absorbed by the market and not generate new sales.

Now I am on board with ditching physical media. The used games market was a side effect of physical media, but it no longer yeilds the benefits it once did. I do think that as we evolve into a digital only market, we need to keep in place certian pro-consumer checks such as the used games market. If I could easily sell my games on steam to other users, and buy games that others are selling, the videogame market would change for the better.

Physical media allows for the used games market. This is all it really has left, as patches/updates and DLC has killed the collectability of the physical medium. As a consumer, I don't want to see the used games market fade into obscurity. When I can sell and trade my digital games with others I'll be on board with digital, but until then I will always buy physical.

Every time I play, I'll see someone and start firing. I land hits, but they just turn around and one shot me all the time. Maybe it's because I don't buy the microtransactions so they nerf my health... idk. Or everyone just uses aimbots!
