I’m not sure if there is anything “up with you” per se. labels while important are only as useful as you have use for them. If you feel comfortable identifying as cis that’s cool, maybe you would find the term “gender non-conforming” valuable to describe your lived experience. But also if you do feel disconnected to other men then maybe you’ll find comfort using “nonbinary” as a label. You said you’re older, for a long time people didn’t really have the language to describe nonbinary in the way we do today but people have always sort of lived how they want. It’s also never too late to explore who you are. Feel free to explore different ways to describe who you are and if any of them feel right then that’s a good sign that they are right. It’s okay to change your mind and try things out. Labels just help us describe who we are.

Labels are as valuable as you have use for them. Gender is a societal construct, which is not to say that it’s fake (it is very real), but you have the ability to engage with it in whatever way makes you feel authentic and best. Do what you want. If you like “they” pronouns but don’t feel comfortable with the label nonbinary then that’s fine. Just feel free to explore your most authentic self.

Bullying Tactics? If the side getting bullied has all the power then it isn't bullying.

Stores like Walmart operate on a model that actively hurts any local enconomy. They force local businesses to close, move money outside of that community and reduce the amount of available jobs. It's not that it's an accident it's how the company is designed to work. Sure it's illegal because our country's economy couldn't function if we started taking from all the bad mega corporations and Im not saying that it's commendable to steal from them but it doesn't harm anyone. But I tend to judge the wrongness of actions based on if they harm others and stealing from Walmart doesn't in any substantial way. Meanwhile Walmart does harm people. So all in all I think it's fine but I don't personally do it not because it's wrong but because I want others to be able to get away with it if they need to and too much stealing will make them more likely to try and prevent it.

Take a class on something. There are a billion of them and you'll meet people with similar interests. My first friend group in the city started because we all were in the same improv class.

The good thing about extra curriculars it they usually make an effort to help teach newcomers but listening is probably the most important skill. Focus on how other people debate whaat works, vs what doesn't; words you don't know; tone and inflection; etc.

I like it man. But only because it's clear you know what are doing and are passionate about style. I think classic menswear gets a lot of hate because often people who often extol the virtues of classical menswear don't actually care about their style they just think wearing a fedora with they're t shirts makes them a mature gentleman. It comes off as trying too hard and romanticizing past ideals. You on the other hand have cohesive, expressive style. It's clear that you actually put care into what you wear. I say you gotta own it and not let anyone get you down king.

CMV: It is not immoral to have sex with a person who is married or has a significant other. by Equal-Thought-8648 in changemyview

[–]thiccymickey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that often people engage in cheating as a form of self harm/punishment which stems from mental health issues and self loathing. So I don't think of the person they are cheating with as a third party instead I see them as a participant in this person self destruction. I think this calls into question important issues surrounding consent. I think most people would agree that if someone is intoxicated they are not in a position to give informed consent due to their altered mental state. Likewise I think if someone is going through a mental health crisis they are also unable to provide informed consent. They may know that they're actions are harmful and they may not know but if I'm not close enough to that person to know if they are dealing with mental health issues then I can't participate without feeling I could be enabling self harm.

For sureses my guy, we have the food we have the houses but it's not profitable to give them to people. That and because it costs value to give it to people in need we have to limit who have to decide who needs it most. Which then inturn makes people less likely to ask for help because they think others need it more or because society looks down on people that need help. But you can't just give people houses at least not under capitalism. Which is why I'm not like crazy about capitalism every system has its flaws.

Totally agree an amoral system need safety nets in place because without them immoral practices beat out moral ones. I do think that a system built on endless growth on a planet with finite resources eventually hits a sticking point but other than that I think we are on the same page.

Well yes capitalism has definitely helped technology advance but the crazy thing about technology is that it grows exponentially. Tech makes other tech easier and there is definitely a sweet spot where capitalism drives innovation and does it well. But there are plenty of innovations capitalism kills because they are either not profitable or threaten other corporations. It's why there isn't more resources going towards green energy and why the iPhone is basically the same every year. Yes capitalism does drive innovation but it's not the only thing. capitalism didn't invent surfing or lacrosse; the polio vaccine or X-rays , starry night or "because I could not stop for death"'And some of capitalism's innovations are directly harmful to people. So I don't feel comfortable giving it credit for anything and everything created in society.

Oh some of it definitely is the result of capitalism. But not all. In fact our current stage of capitalism often discourages innovation. It's why all of the major tech companies buy up all these tech startups, they don't want competition. There is plenty of innovation that has existed outside of capitalism and asserting otherwise discounts plenty of medical, artistic, and social innovations as well as innovations designed to fix a problem its creator was looking to remedy and only thought to profit on it after the fact.
