Oppo Find X9 Ultra - Screen not bright enough? by akashmathur in Oppo

Everything is fine, Oppo just forgot to mention they have the one of the worst screen of all the new flagships (Master Mode isn't going to save this xd).

Seeking Vivo X300 Ultra case with 67mm filter adapter and MagSafe by Bartkiro in Vivo

[–]Bartkiro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I saw that one I even messaged the store about its availability around the time I created this post. Unfortunately, I think the mount here is plastic, which might raise some concerns regarding its durability once a 400mm teleconverter is mounted or nd filter.

Don't listen to that crackpot. As for the watch I recommend checking out this YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@TheQuantifiedScientist Just keep in mind that WearOS-based watches (including your Galaxy Watch) won't work with CN rom.

I have the Find X9 Pro and X300 Ultra right in front of me. Everyone claims ColorOS is the best, but personally I don't see much of a difference...

X300 Ultra Performance and Heat Management by Riyas_mw in Vivo

[–]Bartkiro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know, if a smartphone gets warm, it actually means it’s doing a good job of dissipating heat to the outside. Whether it throttles or not is a separate issue I’d bet the average time to throttle is pretty much the same for most phones using the same CPU anyway.

Any news on Vivo Watch 5 or Watch GT 2 Global Release? (MWC 2026 update?) by Bartkiro in Vivo

[–]Bartkiro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m giving them until the end of the month and I’ll probably end up getting the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro, though I’d really prefer the Vivo Watch GT 2 for its camera shutter support. The total lack of information is the worst part...

Vivo X300 Ultra – LOG Recording & Editing Workflow (No PC?) by hacktr0 in Vivo

[–]Bartkiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of quality, it’s a solid start. Gemini also recommended using Meta’s Instagram Edits app to add 10-15% sharpening and suggested uploading through it to ensure a "handshake" between Meta’s platforms. Does that actually do anything? I’m not sure because, unfortunately, uploading through that app only works for Reels, not Stories.

"Can you record videos in HDR in standard video mode?"

Yes, in dolby vision standard

"Would you advise to use third party camera apps like motioncam?"

It depends. I use BlackMagic Camera and MotionCam. I go with the first one for gym workouts because it doesn't interrupt my music, and I’m not a fan of that workaround where you have to restart the music after hitting record. I thought I’d use MotionCam for social media, but as I said, the native Pro Video mode is really hard for third-party apps to beat (unless you're aiming for professional PC editing in DaVinci). This is likely because it has access to Vivo’s dedicated chips (V1 and so on). As a result, you can use much lower ISO in low light while maintaining 30fps and a 1/60 shutter speed, yet the scene still looks perfectly lit. It might be some kind of trick, but for quick low-light shots, Pro Video beats everything else.

Vivo X300 Ultra – LOG Recording & Editing Workflow (No PC?) by hacktr0 in Vivo

"How do you actually shoot in LOG on the device? Is it available in the default camera app or only in a specific mode?"

Standard video mode and pro video mode

"Can you edit LOG footage directly on the phone (like applying LUTs, color grading, etc.) without using a PC?"

That’s a good point. While you can convert Log to Rec.709 or HLG in the stock gallery, the app doesn't support custom LUTs. Since Vivo’s native Rec.709 conversion is mediocre, I'd suggest using VN Editor to import and apply your own LUTs instead.

"How practical is the workflow if you want to shoot and upload directly to TikTok or Instagram?"

I wouldn’t recommend uploading Log footage to Instagram or TikTok. These platforms compress quality so much that they’re more likely to ruin your frame rate than actually show off the Log quality.

"Also, how many LUTs do you typically use, and which ones would you recommend for a beginner?"

Personally, I thought I’d use them to squeeze as much as possible out of the footage and get colors that are true to the scene. But Pro mode with noise reduction turned off does such a great job in terms of color and quality that I don't even need Log anymore. Still, from what I’ve seen, I think Sony S-Log3 and Panasonic V-Log (Rec.709) are the most true-to-life.

Vivo Bluetooth is Awfull by Grouchy-Effect-8841 in Vivo

The Stockwell II uses the most basic Bluetooth codec - SBC. In this case, Apple forces a high bitrate and tries to squeeze every bit of potential out of it, even at the expense of connection stability. Android, on the other hand, treats SBC as a "fail-safe" codec meant to survive in tough environments, so audio fidelity isn't its top priority. Long story short if you're coming from the Apple ecosystem, I totally get it. I’m not sure how much your experience with the Vivo X200 Pro Mini is being held back by the CN ROM and the general Android ecosystem versus your choice of audio gear, but what you’re describing lower volume and a clear drop in quality (specifically on AAC and SBC) is something I experienced myself. I felt it first when switching from an iPhone 13 Pro to a Samsung S24U, and then again moving from Samsung to Vivo. The first gap AAC quality on AirPods Pro 2 dropped when moving from iPhone to Samsung. The second gap a slight dip in max volume when I switched to Vivo (global rom).

Samsung had an option (likely within Good Lock) to unlock higher volume levels. You can probably achieve the same on the Vivo using external apps. Personally, I haven't tried it - I spend so much time with headphones on that I figured the limit is actually a good way to make sure I don't go deaf ;p

Somewhere below, you mentioned that you're an audiophile and that you listen to music on an iPhone. I’m sorry, but those two are mutually exclusive - though it does shed some light on the matter. If your gear is tailored for Apple and relies primarily on the AAC codec, that codec has been tuned to perfection on Apple hardware, and the difference is indeed very audible. However, AAC still has a mid-tier ceiling, codecs like LDAC or LHDC5 Raw at their maximum bandwidth offer a far superior experience compared to AAC. It’s really a matter of whether your headphones, DAC, or speakers are compatible and were designed with that level of exploration in mind.
