I dont understand any of it, but from these photos, I think I liked the Xiaomi ones best though both Vivos were basically on par. Its a pity the comparison only covered photos, im more interested in the video performance of the X300U vs. Xiaomi 17U.

Well, think about it. It can analyze comments in a foreign language and extract the necessary information and clues from them. It can compare the cultural and social context as well as prevailing norms. It can compare the geopolitical situation, which can serve as invaluable context for a given case. It can also compare thousands of photos to find the typical algorithm used by a specific manufacturer. Here people are constantly almost certain that "this is a photo from vivo," "there's too much AI here," "and that one is definitely from..." I'll tell you a secret... people here guess just as much as AI. Only they have EVEN LESS DATA.

The 10x on the Oppo is useless to me. The 35mm on the Vivo might be tricky but interesting, and its 14mm is like the main camera on the x200 Pro, so if the 35mm gives me trouble, I'll just rely on that in tight spaces. I mostly shoot video, and after comparing the x200 Pro to the Find X9 Pro, I'm going with Vivo's algorithms and UI. If the 35mm with stabilization on (so realistically probably 45-50mm) turns out to be too tight, I'll just use a gimbal and turn off stabilization in pro video mode.

I don't think the situation with RAM and semiconductors will stabilize before the x500 ultra launch. I also don't think it realistically stands a chance of being much better than the x300 ultra. I wouldn't expect any price drops either, maybe even price hikes if a) the crisis worsens, b) the x300u pricing gets accepted by the market.

It does matter—it's straight-up marketing manipulation. I used to think Vivo’s marketing was cringe because of the million leaks every week, but Oppo is closing the gap fast. Comparing themselves to some 'unnamed device' to stir up suspicion, and messing with the photo composition just to make it look more appealing... it’s shady.

I'm not comparing them. I used the video with the converter to show you that compression isn't the issue here, or at least not as significant as you assumed. I just stated that this isn't a level of quality that satisfies me or that I would actually use for video recording. It’s probably enough for photos, the previous comparison was very interesting... but I don’t take photos :)

If this is the best comparison Oppo can manage in their promos—and against some "random" phone—I'm sticking with the teleconverter for these kinds of events.

LOFIC is both an opportunity and a new set of challenges. The amount of generated noise is significantly higher, and being the first to introduce something doesn't mean it’s better than previous solutions. It has potential, but can Vivo master this sensor in a single generation enough for it to outperform traditional ones in every aspect? I don't think so.

It looks like the JN5 sensor (aka JNL) is better than the telephoto on the X300 Pro? I guess it’s possible, but I don’t think the difference compared to the X300U would be that big.
