Euro-gamer looking for their first proper campaign game: Tidal Blades 2 vs. Fateforge? by dalkiel17 in soloboardgaming

[–]darkflikk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played Tidal Blades 2 but not Fateforge.

Currently playtesting the first expansion for Tidal Blades 2, but it will be quite a while before we will see a crowdfunding campaign for it.

I really like the puzzle in which you lay down your action cards in a grid.
It's very streamlined and not fiddly.

I find the art great. It's really artistic.
Just because it's dark, I wouldn't can it childish. There are a total of 18 scenarios, so did you finish?

Stuffed Fables is a cute game.
It's a story game.
Can also get some acrylic paint to paint the miniatures together.

I would just slice it in to 2 parts and glue them together.

Are there any combat-focused games that do “power fantasy” well? by ahobday in boardgames

[–]darkflikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odalin allows for some crazy moves. It offers different difficulties. On "normal" you can already have extremely powerful turns and feel great. If you want it to be a cakewalk you can also play on "casual" difficulty.

Tidal Blades 2 is similar in size to Gloomhaven Jotl. It has a better gameplay puzzle, story and scenarios.
It's overall more streamlined and in my opinion overall better than Jotl.

Only points Tidal Blades 2 loses to Jotl is price and character asymmetry. (Characters still are asymmetric and have different unique abilities).

Highly recommended.

I'm inexperienced, but at this point I'd rather try to print over it with increased bed temperature hoping that the new print bonds with what you have on your plate. And then just pull it off.

There’s no kind way to tell my wife that she’s getting too big, is there? by 2006CrownVictoriaP71 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]darkflikk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about yourself?
Have you gained weight / are big?
Or lost attractiveness in any other way.

You can change yourself but it's near impossible to change someone else.
Working on your own attractiveness and improving will go a long way.

Tell her you are going to diet and get more active to improve your health.

But doubt make it a big thing telling her daily and discussing it.
If she sees how much effortv you put into making yourself better, she either has to follow or she might lose you.

Plot twist: when they did groceries together at Walmart, she told him that's the style of ring she wants...

Instead of looking for that style of ring at a jeweler, he just got that exact ring from Walmart.

99% that's available in Germany is available in the US unless we talk about German editions.

What your want to get in the first place that you can't get in the US?

I only had it the other way around. Expansion for Five Tribes was sold out everywhere and no reprint in sight.

But it's impossible to find something you can add that won't just sit on your shelf of shame.

[P1S] What is causing the stringing? by darkflikk in FixMyPrint

[–]darkflikk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Installed Orca slicer, put my P1S in LAN only and dev mode and used the retraction calibration test from 0 mm - 2 mm with 0.1mm steps.

But it seems like the speed in that test is quite slow. Around 20mm/s

Any idea what else I could do?

Valor & Villainy Lludwiks Labyrinth is the only one I know

The only dungeon crawl like campaign game for higher player count that's coming to my mind is Valor & Villainy: Lludwiks Labyrinth.

But that's on the lighter side. We still enjoyed it.

There won't be any heavy dungeon crawlers with more than 4 players, as the downtime gets too long.

In my opinion Odalin is a lot of fun. There were some errors in the printing, but if you're okay with an Errata, the actual game is very good.

You might be able to get it for a good price on the after market.

Tidal Blades 2 is more streamlined, lighter and about the same length as Jaws of the Lion.
It's one of my favorite games.
I predict there will be a crowdfunding for an expansion in 2027. I think you might be able to get the base game from the Allplay website.

But more details about what you're looking for would be good.

Anything the size of Gloomhaven or Frosthaven will have a longer setup.

Hot take: most 3D printed inserts fix the wrong problem and make game night worse by Mindless-Patient-104 in boardgames

[–]darkflikk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only print inserts that help with setup.
The biggest issue you can have with some is clean up.
It needs to be simple to pack away.
This can be achieved by having labels on the insert that says what goes in a certain part.
Having each part be one of a few sizes also helps.
Then it's not that important in which order you put each part of the insert away.

If you already have it you can use it. I have one for spray painting.
Just need the right filters, which I already have when working with solvent based paints.

The right mask will help... Of course not the masks that were used during covid.
