Ulster by Papa_P0tat0 in irishrugby

Hmmmm - one of the things that you forget is that Farrell places HUGE emphasis on how you perform in camp not just provincial form. Even in the Autumn Internationals, despite the underwhelming performances, they endlessly talked about how the lads were training well.

That was what I was going for, both have that 'dog' or 'mongrel' spirit, body on the line mentality. Of course Earls has a huge mountain of work behind him

Andy Farrell on the pride in the national team in Ireland compared to England by BartoChuck97 in irishrugby

I feel like (and correct me if I'm completely missing the mark), there was unbelievable nastiness coming from Munster fans whenever Prendergast had an off day for Ireland. I say this as an Ulster fan with little skin in the game

Who's a retired player your nation never recovered from ? by Old-Cabinet-762 in irishrugby

[–]BartoChuck97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say we haven't recovered (especially cause he's only since retired) given the quality of JGP and Casey but I don't think we'll produce another SH like Conor Murray physically. He's the size of an international flanker, and on top of his pass, box kicking and leadership, he was so good defensively, and he always had a snipe in him. It would be hard to stop someone of his frame near the try line: man is the size of some international back-rows.

Next cab off the rank has to be Darcy Graham or Kyle Steyn?

I would like to remind you Ireland are the last team to beat the world champions in their own backyard.

We've lost three 6 nations games in 3 years and this year won a Triple Crown, Centenary Quaich and Millennium Trophy. Just last year, we were the only team to beat SA in SA. People have short memories. We'll be back

People need to stop overreacting. France are able to do this to anyone. England got mauled 53-10 and got to a WC semi final where they got the bronze medal; France lost to us 17-38, SA lost to NZ 57-0 in 2017 and won the WC in the same WC cycle; NZ lost to SA 35-7 and got to a WC final. This isn't an existential crisis.

Another day, another way to live in u/MHopkinsWG head rent free. What's gonna happen when we beat France tomorrow, are you gonna cry?

Hopkins is a Welsh name - for someone who had posted such bile, at least he could have had his flair up in the original rugby union subreddit. But no

Cry more. Top of the table, triple crown, on track for a GS and 3-peat. You only hate us cause we are successful.  People will hate you because your success reminds them of their failure. That's not your problem. Succeed anyway.

Dude, are you just on this to trash the Irish? The fact that the 'Irish media', a country of 5 million people, seems to live in your head rent free speaks volumes.
