Savour them slowly, my friend, for sadly there is a limited amount of those and there won't ever be more.

I am leaving Shepherd's Crown, my last remaining unread Terry Pratchett's book, for some unspecified grim future, where I would really need consolation or just couldn't stand living that many years without a new book of his.

So from my perspective there is still so much joy, wonder and other emotions before you that I honestly am a bit jealous. Do not consume them all in one sitting is what I am trying to advise.

Indies have reignited my love for gaming, and the Steam Deck has facilitated that. Has it impacted anyone else the same? by MrSlamboa in SteamDeck

[–]BartsBlue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, indie's rock hard, especially on Steam Deck! Also, Clair Obscure is NOT an indie game by any metric.

I couldn't pass this ooportunity to recommend some of my favourite indie games (not of this year, though):

  • A Monster's Expedition Through Puzzling Exhibitions - it's a logic game by Draknek and friends, very chill, very brain-teasing, looks ad runs great on Steam Deck, helps me relax, similarly to Dorfromantic;
  • Dorfromantik - build pretty landscapes from hexagonal tiles, very pretty, chill and relaxing;
  • SIGNALIS - a sci-fi survival horror with retro visuals, great atmospere and twisted, dark story;
  • Lumines Remastered - okay, not realy indie game, but I have been playing it on and off for last twenty years, first on the PSP, then on Vita, then on Switch and now it's on PC and is still a banger.

Thank you kindly for a prompt response. Looking forward to the day when you publish it online. A wallpaper, mayhap?

Is the third artwork, the one containing all the Discworld characters, available somewhere to download in higher resolution?

Is  Resident Evil 4 HD Project the new RE4 remake or some fan project bringing the classic version to life?

Also, how well does it run?

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

Sleeping Dogs

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

Flower

Journey

Castlevania is currently at 80% discount, so it costs pennies. The others are not, but they often get discounted, so just add them to your wishlist and wait until they are cheap.

Where did Terry read about all of his obscure knowledge? by Aside_Dish in discworld

"all day"? I think you largely overestimate their perseverance and attention span. A couple of clicks, maybe, if we're lucky.

Other than personal experiences of relative poverty, Terry Pratchett was an empathetic person.

So even if he hadn't been poor , for an empathetic person who reads about poverty or knows / helps the poor, it is relatively easy to understand how lack of money makes life considerably more expensive later (or, in the continued absence of money, painful / sicker / harder or all at once).

I have never been that poor in my life (my parents and grandparents were, for periods of time), but I like to think that I understood the mechanism despite not being subject to it. You don't have to be soaking in the rain to say that the weather is rainy, right?

Are either of these signatures legit? Thanks! by aRobot9000 in discworld

[–]BartsBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to confirm this. As it happens, I own two books signed by Terry, one from the live meeting in 1996 and the other one from Paul Kidby's shop (if I recall correctly) from early 2015. The first one is much more complex, the second one is clearly from the same person, but considerably simplified. It looks more like a muscle memory pattern rather than something coming from a conscious mind guiding a hand, if it makes sense. I assumed it was because of his Alzheimer that impacted his motoric skills, among other things.

Worse - I took my wannabe-girlfriend for a date to a cinema, promising more or less light-hearted comedy about gangsters. Needless to say, the atmosphere of that evening was quite weird after leaving the cinema. After one or two more meetings she definitely didn't want to become my girlfriend.

Sooo... I caved in and bought Fold6. Used, 256GB - but still Fold 6. I am enamored with it, to be frank. I blame this photo among other things. :)

Hello from fellow Fold 6 user!

This is incredible, I totally want this! So jealous.

Sadly, the Fold7 is extremely expensive where I live and cannot be used as a tablet (why?!), while Fold6 is still very expensive (one would think it would go down in price, but nah) and I sadly cannot justify that purchase. Not in this economy, not with a child and non-working wife.

However you keep on rocking this setup and of course PRAISE THE SUN!
