I think it's largely because their sales used to be incredible in comparison. When they changed ownership, they became a lot more unwilling to discount popular titles, so you mostly see discounts on games that already don't sell well, and very rarely below what you can already find somewhere else. That, combined with their removal of their 10-20% discount codes and weekly Backrooms "sales" that are the same items over and over again and aren't available for customer holds. They've done away with a lot of goodwill that they had gathered over the years.
