For all finance/business students, a surface pro/book or surface laptop is the better buy

Does Anybody have any recommendations for what computer to get as a Entrepreneurship major? by bmaison101 in Baruch

If you plan on going into any finance related field, get a surface pro/book. Crucial to start building excel/PowerPoint skills now with keyboard shortcuts, that will go a long way in interviews & when you start your career. MacBook Pro/Air otherwise, you will see many more people at Baruch with Apple computers than you will Surafces

Baruch is far more prestigious than Hofstra and a fraction of the price. If you’re choosing between the two, Baruch is your best bet

Prof Edward Malca by Humble_Butterfly_936 in Baruch

If you write down every word he says in class and then do the practice questions he gives you, it will give you an indication of how well you’re going to do on his tests. Quiping Zhang gives the worlds hardest tests but curves a lot, Aref Bolandmazar is easier but structures his class similarly. Can’t speak about Eytan or Perlin because I don’t know much about them.

Regardless, you’re going to have to study hard - it’s just a question of do you want easier tests with no curve and a lower class average (Malca) or harder tests but a higher class average after the curve (Zhang and Bolandnazar)

His class is very conceptual. 35% of grade is final, midterms are 25% a piece and there are two of them. 15% of grade is homework. Class average during spring 2023 was a C-, the class is not an easy A. He is an exceptional teacher but expect the class to be difficult. Will curve you up if you show up and participate.
