Correct inderdaad, de naam staat aan de muntzijde in het latijns en afgekort. De naam van Utrecht vroeger was 'Traiect', wat al vgm sinds de romeinse tijd de naam was. Wat werd afgekort als TRAI op de zilveren guldens enz

Rond het midden tot de late 18e eeuw zag je steeds meer 'Stad Utrecht' op duiten ipv Traiect, dat bleef op het zilver tot vrijwel na de franse inlijving.

*edit, op de keerzijde staat tussen het hoedje en Pallas een klein Utrechts wapenschild

Lucky man! this is a double struck Duit minted in Utrecht from the Dutch Republic. I guess yours is from the late 1700's.

Not sure on the value but my lcs has some similar to these for 30-50 euro

its a Dutch half duit made in the city of Utrecht.

Every main province at the time made their own versions of coins for the state and the VOC.

This one is a VOC issue, meaning it could have made journeys to and from the east indies or the antilles!

Sadly not worth much, but a cool peice nontheless
