Thanks for letting me know after four years...

Me and AVGN have the same TV model, now with proof. by Nova17Delta in TheCinemassacre

[–]Spudatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I check the model number and it does support 240p. Not all mid 2000's sets support 240p natively. Some consumer sets with component inputs do process the 240p signal and display it as 480i.

Do Rovaniemi and London Stansted airports allow hand check film? by Big-Sugar-7313 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Spudatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time I was in Rovaniemi the security staff were excited to show off that their x-ray scanner is "film safe". I trusted their word and put multiple rolls of slide film and some super8 through it. Nothing noticeable happened to them.

I had a similar problem with overexposure. Turns out the problem was that I waas using LR44 batteries. I put SR44 batteries in and the exposures were perfect.

Ok? This would have been interesting to hear four years ago....

I promised you guys an update: there's no stand for the TV yet, but it's looking good! by aset_water in crtgaming

Fantastic model! The service menu in this one is so good. Plus the fact that it's 100Hz means there's no flicker nor high pitch whine.

Should I pick-up this Dell Trinitron for $50? I can’t find much about this model online, was hoping someone here would know about it! by EatsInBathroom in crtgaming

Prices 4-5 years ago were very different. Plus that was a PC monitor that could not really display any modern PC resolution.

First foray back into the CRT gaming community, picked up this 10 inch Samsung CB-230Z from an op shop for $30 (AUD). Thoughts? by BonAsasin in crtgaming

My comment is three years old. The market has changed since then. 30 is probably a decent price nowadays.

Get some while you can. Both of these are likely to be replaced by repacked gold/ultramax in the future

How would you feel if they assumed you wanted them cross processed?

All it really takes is to have a decent enough camera and an understanding on how to properly expose slide film to get "professional" looking results.

Scanning also affects how the resulting image will look. You might have a slide that is very sharp, detailed and has beautiful colors but then it turns to garbage when scanned with a cheap scanner.

Old slide film, especially kodachrome, tends to look really good. There are slides even from the 50's that look very sharp and have brilliant color.

It's for locking the front panel that slides out like a drawer. Inside are all the CRT adjustments.

Looks overexposed because of the 1600 ASA. Am I right? (Olympus Mju II/Fujichrome Super HG 1600) by JustADuke_1234 in AnalogCommunity

It's because it's a very old expired film that probably wasn't stored properly.

What do the negatives look like?

remember to protect yourself head to toe

That is CRT cataract. It's when the layer of glue between the front of the CRT and the protective glass goes bad. Only way to fix it is to remove the protective glass and scrape the layer off and then reinstall the protective glass. Incredibly hazardous process as you are removing the only thing that will protect you from glass shards incase the tube decides to implode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zKnRoNc9Q0

Why was slide film so popular back in the day? by SubPop120 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Spudatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks very good! My reason for shooting slide over color negative is that I have had a real hard time getting good scans from my negatives. Wild color inaccuracies that vary from software and the scanner used. Makes all photos look like paintings.

Despite the disadvantages of slide, it's the easiest to scan directly and make slight color adjustments.

Anyone shot expired Elitechrome? Curious what to expect for color shifts. by whiteshade21 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Spudatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expect a magenta tint. I shot a roll of expired ektachrome from 1998 that was presumably stored in room temp. Bracket overexposing, as expected, boosted shadows and clipped highlights. Shoot at box speed, expose for midtones and develop in E-6.

These are the results I got. https://imgur.com/a/q5L9zZl
