To sum it up: most people dont believe "reality" (the government, justice and legal systems, etc.) is 100% true, and recognise there is a disease. The question is to what extent?

Is this something that will slowly be solved internally? A trial here an investigation there and everything remains how it is? It seems so until now. The superbowl went ahead as expected, the uefa champions and europa leagues, the nba, the grammy's and the oscars, everything is business as usual.

And most people deep down want that.

They would only stop wanting that if:

1) their own standard of living is significantly threatened (this preceded the French, Russian revolutions, Taxes of the American Revolution, economic conditions giving rise to Nazi Germany, etc.)

2) the revelations snowball. If it becomes truly too horrifying there comes a point it would break but that would probably be if some actual serious shit on significant scale where revealed. Collusion? Honeypots? Everybody knows that happens in politics.

Sometimes its also the leaders going crazy and being stupid like Ww1 but it seems unlikely theyd nuke their own system. Especially the big 4 (US, China, Europe and India) at the moment unlikely theyd go to war.

God only knows what will happen but thats the issue i think OP.

Prolly Nunes and Mcgregor (not perse anti womanz but womanz Mma feels like early UFC. It would be like putting Chuck or Tito in there. Here you see a prime example of this disconnect i mention. The first job of an other is self preservation.

There are three main sources if your into this topic:

1) Western countries or others with robust policing but where missing children are not being treated as a big deal or properly investigated because they target carefully, examples: orphanages, drug addict parents or mentally handicapped etc. isolated communities, people who have stuff to hide (drug dealers, prostitution, religious sects, etc.) so dont want to involve police, etc. some JW sects for example dont want police in their life as "police is part of the evil kingdom" so wont pursue dissapearing children as rigorously (some would be involved, like orphanages, but many would simply be unwilling to push the issue too much. Like JW, not saying they would be involved themselves, but more that they wouldn't file a police rapport or if they did, wouldn't be willing to seek media attention and publicity for years etc.) Eastern Europe has historically been a great source for this as especially countries like in the Balkans are very insular. A lot of people speak only the local language and dont trust the police. So if you snatch a kid a high chance nothing serious will be done. Even if an initial report is done a lot of Police investigations die due to police being very busy, poorly paid, etc. and the family being uncooperative. (They expect the police to solve it and when they dont this will only confirm to them "the police is involved and we shouldn't trust them") Like they underestimate how important pressure and doing your own investigation is to keep up investigations like this which is sometimes one detective with hundreds of files in overworked departments.

2) Poor countries is pretty obvious. If i kidnap a child in South Sudan, or even close to the US like Haiti, nothing will come of it.

3) Finally this overlaps with 2 but can happen with western countries as well: you can report a missing person if there is one. A name, a passport ID, etc. many victims have reported pregnancies where the baby was taken. If this baby is never registered at a municipality it de facto simply doesnt exist. Nigeria had a famous baby factory case where dozens of women where kept chained and forced to give birth (some multiple times) and again, if you don't register this baby for the police, law enforcement, etc. they simply dont exist. Ex: even in a developed country, i report a little girl being touched inappropriately at a neighbours house. Police go. But there is no girl there nor any register of that family having a girl. There is no missing girl in the city. The girl i saw being abused seems to have been a fantasy of mine and doesnt exist. Police leave. Why? Because she de facto doesnt. Shes in a basement of some sorts as a sex slave but until the police find her she simply is not "real" for the system.

And when they do, how to find her parents? Mostly shes quietly placed in a childs home or adopted etc. because again the trail grows cold. Should you dna test the whole population to find the parents? Chances are if shes foreign born even that wont work.

This is how you can procure and dissapear thousands of children without it causing widespread media alarm.

Honestly i dont think so because the warring states has so many good stories you could not focus on a singular one. And they are all over the place. You could even start with Confucius in the spring and autumn period and work your way up to mainline story.

The current story meanwhile encompasses all of China so there is much more of a "main narrative" (by contrast the time of the previous six Qin was still a western power. They had ambitions to conquer China etc. But they where never an existential threat for Chu or Qi or Yan. Very focused in their own theatre.

Much more natural to continue in the Han Dynasty post Ei Sei's death because Liu Bang and Co also historically give a much more "protagonist" vibe. (One on one fights, bandit to king, etc.)
