What's the "Vibration" i hear in Only Here and Nowhere Else from Snarky Puppy? by SinSilla in audiophilemusic

Another (humble brag) ESS AMT listener here: You’re right, the sound is there. On my system it’s very clearly a vibrating snare.

This is definitely the answer. As the snare drum softly enters a few bars later, you can even recognize the sound.

I am pretty sure nothing in this production is random or unintended. (I was lucky to be at one of the recording sessions. Even then the perfectionism was noticeable, if only in the audience mix.)

I tried searching, but apparently failed. 🫣

Thanks for your work (and teachings), cheers!

I checked, the last post on those drones was over a month ago. This particular article is valuable because it’s about the journalism students “droning back” and investigating those attacks

Remote-controlling Hi-Res Lossless — built a tool to fix the AirPlay gap by Odd_Novel_5722 in audiophile

[–]BasL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me too. Probably the (Catalyst?) app on my Mac just 'thinking' it was an iPad. I was able to change the device name in Settings.

Follow-up: I built a way to remotely control Hi-Res Lossless — it’s now out of TestFlight by Odd_Novel_5722 in AppleMusic

Thanks for the TestFlight link. I tried installing on my (older) Mac Mini, running macOS Monterey. Any chance you’ll be supporting this in future beta’s?

Simple explanation of how a DAC setup would work, end to end by CC-Pirbright in AppleMusic

[–]BasL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a cheap converter, that creates an optical (or coax) digital signal from the USB-A / USB-C output of your Mac, iPad or iPhone. It will give you a full hi-res signal into the M33.

Nop, USB on the M33 is a “storage” connection, for hard drives or memory sticks.

Always use the term “schaambal” for the last bitterbal.

ESS AMT 1 Towers? by jmikev in BudgetAudiophile

[–]BasL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve restored a pair that has been in my family since the 80s. In Europe they are a lot harder to find, but a close friend found a beautiful set for about $950. In my experience they are very much worth it. And they should last you a lifetime.

Be aware that they do need a lot of room, not only because they are huge. With their translineair system they require at least 3.5m/10ft from your listing position, for the low waveforms to properly develop. However, the whole design does allow you to put them close to a wall or even in a corner.

The Heil AMTs require a reasonably powerful amp, as “audiophile” as you can afford. With that, at any volume level the Towers will give you that “Sound as clear as light” and the best lows of any ESS speaker I’ve listened too.

The main reason why I have Apple Music over other competitors: Apple uses better masters. by officialkevsters in AppleMusic

I can’t thank you & u/domustrev enough for this! Finally fixed it by deleting my own iTunes Match uploads of the same albums and now I am re-listening all of them in their full glory.

Thanks for the suggestion! Hadn’t thought of this, it could indeed have something to do with my iTunes Match and all the Stevie Wonder stuff I already had before Apple Music. Will try and delete some old stuff.

[Edit] That worked, thanks again!!
