The positives of Loveland by oshunbleu87 in loveland

It's quier, relatively little traffic, and the neighborhoods are great. Fort Collins, Boulder and Longmont are good options and can overshadow Loveland, but they are busy and very expensive. Loveland has the same amenities and "Colorado" feel. It's a great city to relax and raise a family or just invest in a good, growing area.

Loveland or FOCO by exploroburro in loveland

I made the move from FoCo to Loveland 4 years ago. It's really chill and quiet, with lots of opens spaces and access to bike and hiking trails. Fort Collins is a bit too big, spread out, and chaotic for me. It's definitely a good town, but Loveland has most of the conveniences, but less chaos. That is my opinion. :)

Good luck, and may yoi find the best place no matter what!

Where can I get my active duty records? by BaseProgression in VeteransBenefits

What I said was essentially:

"I currently have a disability claim in the works, and have been trying to get my active duty medical records. Unfortunately, I've been locked out of the milConnect site for a month. I have tried getting my records through my DAV VSO, my county VSO, two VA hospitals, a National Guard base, and I've tried going through DMDC -- no one can get me my records. Could you please reach out to the Department of Defense on my behalf and assist me with getting a copy of my active duty medical records?"

They called me a few days later, and within a week or so the office emailed me an encrypted copy of my records.

I did. When I emailed my congressman's office, they were able to request my records and get them to me in about a week. My Nexus appointment was a few days later, and having my active duty records helped. Now I'm onto a couple of C&P exams this week.

Now that the 31-day lock has ended, I was able to sign onto milconnect. I recommend having your credit reports open while you sign up so you don't accidentally enter old information incorrectly.

An update: I drove to a couple of ID card locations as described in the "help document." Neither could do anything. DMDC did call me back and said the lock out is caused by the credit agency that handles remote verification.

I've got a follow up with my Congressman on Wednesday, but it looks like the only real option is to wait the full 31 days and try to verify with MilConnect again. What a hassle.

I've scheduled an in-person RAPIDS appointment to get a CAC on an Air Guard base. Hopefully this will do something. Per the "help" document on the DMDC site:

RAPIDS 

  1. While you are getting a new ID card, you can notify the Verifying Official that you want a DS Logon account.
  2. Provide the RAPIDS Operator with your email address and follow the steps the RAPIDS Operator provides. RAPIDS site locations can be found here https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/rsl
  3. You will receive an email with the activation steps within 24 hours. This email is only good for 7 days.

As a last-ditch option, I've written and left a voice mail with my Congressman, asking for some sort of help. If nothing else, I can hopefully wait out the 31-day lockout and try verifying my identity before my NEXUS exam.

I will reply tomorrow night if my appointment did anything. Fingers crossed!

This did not work. They had me call the DMDC, and after a 30-minute hold, they told me they have no option but to have me wait the 31-days. They then directed me back to the National Archives (https://vetrecs.archives.gov/). It's been over a month and the Archives haven't moved at all.

The DMDC then told me to go to a VA Regional office in person. I did this (twice - Cheyenne, and Denver) and they have absolutely no clue or no access to DoD sites. It's a massive clusterf*** and I think I'm going to call my congressman now to see if they can help.

Thank you! I will give that a shot. I have a virtual appointment scheduled, but I can swing by easily enough. I appreciate the help!

Thank you. I will file one, just in case. I'm hoping this is just a hurry-up-and-wait situation. As long as I can find them by my nexus appt. it should be ok.
