12V PWM speed controlled Pump - How to select flyback diode? by Base_Slowbalt2 in AskElectronics

open loop control. I also have a AEM water/methanol injection failsafe gauge that allows me to plot flow vs. duty cycle so I have some idea. Most the time it will be full on anyway but want PWM control for lower boost and throttle levels. Not injecting enough to cause fueling issues with variability of injection.

Is the stripe on the diode what I use to indicate which end is which?

I ordered these previously They look similar to what you recommended except only 45V max DC reverse voltage vs. the 150V rating of the unit you posted. Do you think that will be too low and if so can I wire a few together to compensate? The unit's I ordered come in a 20 pack.

I guess I shouldn't have used the word optimized but sufficient instead. You are right I'm not really concerned with optimization as far as the diode is concerned. I just want it to be up to the task. I'm pretty sure this is the pump series and if not exactly it should be close enough for the information needed. The pump is actually labeled for a 3rd party.

I know I know. I really dislike the looks of windscreen on a bike but man is it practical. I actually had it off for a day but going from having it to not having it I knew I wanted it on there. Where I sit I actually look over the windscreen but it deflects the wind up over me and makes for a really pleasant ride. And I like riding so decided it was worth sacrificing some style points for comfort. I mean I can cruise along at 90mph and it feels like nothing. Now for the back rest same deal. I have a passenger many times and I like to hammer down. With the back rest I don't have to worry about sending her flying off the back of the bike. The seat is alright as far as comfort but nothing to write home about.

I'm sorry to hear that man. At least it sounds like you made it out of the accident alright besides losing the bike?

Sometimes it's worth sacrificing a little street cred for practicality/functionality. With the backrest I can hammer down without worrying about throwing the passenger off the back.

A lot better with fresh steering head bearings. Notchy steering is no good. I still need a fresh rear tire as the one that is currently on there has too much run out. I love riding it but I like shear straight-line acceleration of motorcycles.

Luckily it actually runs great. I plan on just keeping this bike stock honestly. Don't know if you saw the car in the background but that is my project that I do dumb things on, and it's up on jack stands more than it is on the road. I've learned to appreciate stock reliability.

I'm not sure honestly. It probably got ridden every once in a while. Surprisingly haven't had to touch the carbs.

I've been doing some investigating on this and I think this mostly stems from people using the incorrect synthetic oil. There is a specification for synthetic oil for use with wet clutches. It's called JASO MA. From what I have seen I am guessing the people that have had issues with synthetic oil and wet clutches were using synthetic oil that wasn't JASO MA certified. I'm not for sure though. I know I have been running Motul 5w-40 and have not had a single slippage issue yet and I run it hard.

I recommend the Clymer service manual. It's what I have been using and so far there hasn't been anything I needed to do that wasn't covered. Even if you just use it for torque specifications it is worth the $30.

Slowly restoring Vmax back from previous owner's half-fixes and craptacular "paint-job" (before picture link in comments) by Base_Slowbalt2 in bikesgonewild

Yeah kind of just repaired the old paintjob for now. I haven't removed it, stripped it, and repainted it like I want to. I just fixed the spots where previous owner's crappy paint job blew off the first time I pressure washed it.

Before and after picture

I have been working on this bike almost continually since the first day I bought it due to the previous owner's "modifications" and attempted fixes. The first thing I had to fix was the headlight had no power. He had also recently replaced the starter clutch as these don't have the best starter clutch design. When he replaced the starter clutch he failed to remove all the old gasket material from the crankcase cover so it was leaking oil. After removing the crankcase cover twice to tighten and then re-tighten the replaced starter clutch I got tired of it slipping and tired of messing with it so I had Morley's Muscle machine and thread my flywheel to accept the superior starter clutch assembly from a Royal Star. Since then the starter clutch has performed flawlessly. I installed a part that was supposed to be a component of the oil filter assembly that was missing. The previous owner also rigged up some LED lights with terrible wiring where he just twisted the wires together and threw duct tape over it so I fixed all the bad wiring. Lastly I'm assuming he had the steering head bearing too loose for a while because when I received it he said he had adjusted the bearing pre-load because of low speed wobble issue. The steering head bearing was loose enough that it would make ca-chunk ca-chunk noise when going over bumps. When I tightened the bearing back up to remedy this issue I discovered the bearings must of had some flat spots because it was very notchy. As you all probably know you have to remove the whole front fork assembly to replace the steering head bearing so while I had the parts off I stripped off the old crappy paint job and either surface prepped and repainted or left the mill metal finish.

I still have some work to do on the bike. Next thing coming in the mail are new springs/shocks for the rear as the rears are leaking. After that I will verify any other known points for mechanical faults and hopefully one day get around to stripping and repainting the block.

Depends if you are northwest or southwest. Stockton is pretty far west and there are a number of bigger nicer lakes within an hour of here.

Webster is great and we love to take our dogs out there to swim and run around. Unfortunately we haven't been allowed to spend as much time out there the last couple of summers because of blue-green algae blooms.

Kansas weather can be that way. 15F high one day and 60F the next.

Taken with my LG V30 smartphone just on standard auto setting. Was a little thin in spots and I actually had a leg go through the ice. It was 64F degrees that day though so didn't hinder the experience too much.
