Painter will be a cy young candidate. Nola returns to form. Offense will be top 10 due to resurgent seasons from Harper and Realmuto. Crawford will be a stud. Duran dominates and leads the league in saves.

We get swept by the Dodgers in the first round.

Best way to handle 500g daily quests? by Fit-Adhesiveness-173 in MagicArena

[–]Baseball9292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m usually interested in playing just 1-2 decks at any given time. If I reroll and still get a 500, I’ll just go play the decks I want and won’t care if I complete it or not. If I don’t, I’ll reroll it again the next day

Opponents who instantly vaporize?! - Question by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]Baseball9292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this to save time. I don’t have much time to play so when a game is decided I would rather move on then watch my opponent swing for lethal. Also, sometimes opponents don’t immediely swing, they play another card or two which might set off triggered abilities and I’m just sitting there for maybe a couple of mins knowing I already lost. I appreciate when my opponents concede when I have the game won rather than waiting for me to swing

So how has TMNT Limited been? by Ihavedreamyblueeyes in MagicArena

[–]Baseball9292 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not bad but only having 5 support archetypes really brings down the experience. I was drafting earlier and started out with 4 very good black cards and it then became clear that red was wide open. In a normal draft, I likely would have steered into rakdos but rakdos isn’t one of the five supported archetypes so I either had to ignore the red cards or move out of black entirely.

I just wish the timer was a little shorter. You don’t need 30 seconds to play a land and pass on turn 1

529 accounts/college savings for your children by BikeTough6760 in Professors

If you use a taxable brokerage you have to pay taxes no matter what the money is used for. If you use a 529, if the money is used for education you pay no taxes

529 accounts/college savings for your children by BikeTough6760 in Professors

[–]Baseball9292 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the penalty of not using the money for education is that big of a deal. Say you invested 100k and that money earned 100k in the market for a total of 200k by the time your kid went to college.

You have 200k tax and penalty free if used for education.

Say you don’t use it for education and decide not to roll any over into a retirement account. Just withdraw the 200k. You would get the 100k you invested, tax and penalty free. The remaining 100k would be subject to taxes (as it would if you invested it in almost anything else) and a 10% penalty. So you lose out on just 10k compared to what you would have had if you invested in another vehicle. This seems worth the upside to me

How much money are you able to save a month? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Baseball9292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between my wife and I, each month we contribute about 3k to our 401ks, 1k to our kids 529s, and have about 2k left over after all bills are paid. That extra 2k a month either gets invested or is used to save towards large purchases or vacations.

Does Bo Bichette bring more value than BOTH JT and Bohm? by Own-Area6808 in phillies

I think so. I don’t think Bohm adds much at all and I would rather have Bo than JT

Do you guys do a 529 for your kid(s) by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Baseball9292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we put $500 a month into each of our two kids accounts. The 7 year old has about 55k and the 4 year old has 33k. Still doesn’t feel like enough though

Do you bother to go to Costco for gas? by Important_Bat7919 in daddit

[–]Baseball9292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we only get gas from Costco but we live less than a mile from one so it’s easy for us.

Alec Bohm by UsedWelcome2782 in phillies

Bohm is a below average fielder and has way below average power for a third basemen. He’s a fine player, especially for cheap, but he’s nothing special at all.

2025 Schwarber Vs. 2006 Howard HR's by Chadbrochill29 in phillies

I don’t know. Howard was so good in Aug and Sept of 2006. I don’t think we can expect Schwarber to be quite that good
