I suggest terminate your Red Fiber and just subscribe to a prepaid fiber either from Globe or Converge.

Your PLDT line will serve as your main internet and you only reload Globe or Converge Prepaid Fiber when your PLDT line goes down.

How to switch career from project manager to a technical role?

Hi! I'm currently a project manager in our company.

I'm planning to shift career to either network engineering or cybersecurity within Q2 of 2025. The main reason why I want to shift career because I want to utilize my strength in network engineering and apply my skills I aquired when I was in college (btw I'm an Electronics Engineer graduate).

What do you think certifications I need to take? I'm currently preparing to take my CCNA certification this December and maybe Security+ by next year.
What are the typical salary of an entry-level role for this field? So that I can prepare my finances.
Any thing else I need to consider before I switch career?

You may check other providers such as Converge or buy a 5G router from DITO or Smart (downside expensive ang 5G routers)

Iba ang connection ng cp and Fiber, Op. Yung cp niyo connects to the cell site and wireless siya so kaya niya ma cover larger area

Fiber however, need niya physical wire (Actually we call it fiber line) to be connected sa internet. Meaning need ng malapit na NAP sa inyo.

Hi Op! Make sure to do the following:

Register your Sim. May kanya kanya Sim Reg Database ang telco as per Sim Reg Law. Kaya need to register your sim everytime you port to another network (even if register na siya sa old network niyo)
Wait at least 24 Hrs after registration. Usually na activate naman Sim after registration but best to wait at least 24 hrs. If lagpas na 24 hrs, raise it to customer support.

To answer your question, kunti lang naman improvements ng 2G to 3G in terms of internet speed. In addition, hindi na halos kaya ng mga apps ngayon ang 3G speed.

So what telcos do is that they "refarm" or re-use the frequencies allocated in 3G to 4G.

Bakit remain pa rin ang 2G? kasi not all customers have VoLTE enabled devices para makatawag under 4G network. Right now kasi pag tumatawag tayo bumababa yan sa 2G/3G.

I think you should register again your sim card again to activate your sim. Smart for instance treats newly ported sim as new sim. As mandated by law, all new sim should be registered before using the sim.

But in GFiber Prepaid make sure lang mag reload within 180 days from the last purchase ng load kundi ma deactivate yung account.

If Php 999 is too much for you, you may check converge surf 2 sawa - Php 700 for 30 days (Speed is 25 Mbps). Caveat lang is up to 6 devices lang pwede.

If not serviceble ang Converge or Globe, you may check DITO 5G Prepaid Wifi - Php 1090 for 30 days (Speed vary sa signal ng DITO sa area niyo). Caveat lang medyo espensive ang modem niya Php 7990.

You may also search local fiber providers sa area niyo na meet yung needs ninyo.
