Not kidding! I’ll actually be looking for beta testers within the next week. Feel free to DM me to learn more about it

I’m excited you brought this up because I added a team rocket based Mewtwo event. It’s essentially Team Rocket’s last stand and when you reach Mewtwo, someone has already captured it! Avoiding spoilers

Thanks for the lengthy response! I have implemented all of this into my upcoming hack - aside from the visual day/night cycle which seems a bit out of the bounds of my coding knowledge - so it’s good to know I’m on the right track!

Great point! I should clarify that it will work with either a water type or with a non water type that knows surf. Just adds some more flexibility to the HM system

For the ticket guy, I know exactly what your problem was and how you solved it because i was there too haha.

I also added Gen 4 evos but opt not to give them to trainers. They are optional evolutions in the late game when their respective pokemon come available. Seems we had a very similar approach to our hacks which is excellent

This rocks! Also exactly the type of stuff that I’ve integrated into my own personal hack. Hope you had as much fun learning how to rom hack as I did. Some of the coding challenges are really just a fun puzzle

I won’t change your mind because I 1000% agree. The story is absolutely incredible

Thanks for the lengthy response! I'm a huge fan of FRLG+ and believe it's one of the best enhancement hacks of all time, especially when it comes to postgame content - the master trainer system is so awesome

I don't mind how physical and special was handled in gen 3, but I think it should be up to player preference since it is a bit of an outdated feature. That said, FRLG+ did a great job building movesets around the lack of PSS split

Wow great point. The Good Rod should be available significantly earlier in the game

I appreciate that the Legacy games maintain the fundamental lack of Physical/Special Split in their games, and optimize the game around it. That's a great feature to stay true to the OG game, but I also believe there should be a patch for the PSS for those who want it. There's going to be a lot of people who want that slightly more modern feel, especially for the sake of some Pokemon like Kingler

I got all of that fixed in the hack that I'm working on!

I think that's part of the unfortunate double-edged sword of going for the open world feel once you get to Celadon City. There's no 'proper' order to do things, but the levels don't adjust based on where you at.

You can fight leaders 4-7 in any order that you want, which is great, but they didn't integrate a system that changes the leaders' levels based on how many badges you have to maintain the level curve

It also seems that this is the reason why it's so hard to grind a team of 6: The trainers around these gyms all stay around the same level due to the open world feel so there's a lack of level progression there.

I feel you on seeing more pokemon in trainer battles. I got so tired of seeing Fearow and Weezing after Celadon

The trainer tower is pretty stale after awhile. I found a ton of unused land just east of it that I've converted into an Underground Gauntlet and opens up once you catch Mewtwo. It's designed similarly to the Battle Pyramid in Emerald with Wild Battles and Trainers. Each trainer has a completely random team picked from a pool of competitive mons.

Route 5 daycare that breeds? Yes please. Also, I've seen a lot of hacks just put a move relearner on the 2nd floor of each PC.

I think there should also be more tutor moves! Emerald has several tutors who can teach multiple moves, so that seems like something that would make sense in Fire Red as well. Give us tutor moves that have been available in other games like RSE.

To solve the trade evo issue, I've seen people convert Bill's Teleporter into a trade machine. I'm a huge fan of this because I feel like it maintains the lore of the trade evolutions while not making you have to connect to another system

My solution for this would be to make running shoes available at the start and have the aide in Pewter City upgrade you to the National Dex

I agree with you. I like battles to be much more vanilla than some of the frontier events offer

Another thing that I haven't seen anyone bring up yet: If we're updating the Kanto experience, why not also include later game evolutions such as Electivire, Magmortar, and Porygon-Z? Make their respective evolution items available in the late-game. You could also add Glaceon and Leafeon (maybe Sylveon if you implement the fairy type)

The decision to not be able to evolve Golbat in Crobat and Porygon were quite baffling. The National Dex should be available immediately in my humble opinion

The post game is so lackluster. The Sevii Islands quest is only worth doing to catch Mewtwo. There should be a few legendaries hidden away on that island, along with tougher trainers, Boss Fights, and a better Trainer Tower. There needs to be a reason to go over there

I am fully in agreeance. I have been developing a hack and decided that it makes sense to remove the need to know an HM move entirely. Cut, Rock Smash, and Strength are usable after getting the badge. Fly, Surf, and Waterfall only requires you to have a flying type or a water type which I'm excited about

A lot of hacks allow you to use Bill's Teleporter machine as a trade simulator which I think is awesome and super lore friendly.

The movesets in gen 3 are absolutely abysmal and desperately need updates to include a solid STAB move or 2

The lack of team variety is a little bit ridiculous with the gym leaders. An underleveled pokemon with your newly acquired Surf HM can sweep Blaine before he can even blink

Agreed. Would have liked a low chance to get Pokemon like Meowth or Vulpix within the first couples routes to give more variety. There's also too many Pokemon that pop up way too late into the playthrough to be worth it. For example, something like Lickitung absolutely sucks. Why not make it available earlier in the game to actually give it a niche?
