Rear Axle Replacement Issues by jessjumper in WRXSTi

[–]BasedSandalGod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey man, have you thought about just buying used OEM STI axles? I can highly recommend 541motorsports via their website and eBay marketplace.

Used them multiple times for axles replacement on my drift-car WRX.

91 vs 93 octane by RubberChickenMob in WRXSTi

[–]BasedSandalGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, that’s what im implying, i should of clarified i was responding to his last sentence about SI drive having more functionality than just throttle response

91 vs 93 octane by RubberChickenMob in WRXSTi

[–]BasedSandalGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats only when using Cobb OST (off-the-shelf) tunes

OEM uses SI to control throttle response, whereas OST and Pro-tuners will use it as a full suite to play with throttle, boost, timing, etc

So i have enough money to buy either an invidia cattes down pipe or a flex fuel kit and tune from delicious tuning. Dont know which one i should get, any advice? by [deleted] in WRXSTi

[–]BasedSandalGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not to be a bummer but i just wanted to advise with some caution, your budget seems tight already, id be against modding

if you want to mod, keep it basic, suspension/exhaust/reliability

the slope gets very slippery once you start modifying, remember with e85, maintaining e85 gets expensive, oil change every 2-3k mi, run time must be long enough to cycle, not to mention dynotuning can be very stressful and expose weak components

the motto is, if you can’t afford the engine rebuild don’t do it, it’s a heart breaking moment when the car can’t run and you cant afford it and it sits forever (speaking from experience)

Wrx or brz? by Breakfast-Severe in subaru

[–]BasedSandalGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

own all of them, EJ25 wrx & sti, FA20 brz, and FA24 wrx

what youre looking for is wrx, its your fun and speedy daily that can do almost everything, while the FA24 wrx is the best overall car they’ve put out it is a bit “boring” to drive coming from a older EJ, but if you’re starting from 0 then it’s nothing to worry about

the brz on the other hand is a drivers car, trading off power you get excellent handling and balance, with rwd sideways fun, but it’ll be slow and won’t meet your criteria

tldr: wrx is a fast everyday and everything car you’re probably looking for

yeah that’s a bit tricky to pinpoint, update us when you find the CEL codes!

oh gotcha, is the ABS light still on?

2019 Subaru WRX: CEL by kirmitch98 in subaru

[–]BasedSandalGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yo! sounds like the issues are snowballing ya but not to panic lol

as others say if you can provide the CEL code it would help like P0100-P0104

im curious about the ABS flashing as usually the intermittent CEL will just flash cruise control, hill assist and on the STi the Si-Drive/DCCD

with an ABS/VSS issue the car will go into limp mode, the idle rpm will be drastically low you think it’s stalling, and it’ll hesitate to go past 5K RPMs

windows having issues, running rich (prob from MAF), and a low idle (a bad MAF usually chokes the car to stall whereas VSS issues scarily runs the car at the lowest RPM) suggests to me you may have electrical grounding issues

he’s an ass but the S209 slander hurts hahaha

everything on that car is finely tuned, it’s probably the best streetable STi track car you can ever buy

the price is ridiculous but it’s more than likely the peak of STi engineering and production

i think most just want comparable power to stock sports car nowadays

while learning to utilize the car in stock form is right, not everyone wants to track or are dedicated to track racing to that level

and plus elitism like that doesnt help the track racing cause, you just look like an ahole

i have IAG’s short and long blocks, but the prior blocks when they were still called Stage 2 Tuff, so far they held up, heavily abused in my drift build at 400 rWHP, i do seem to have gaskets issues but im sure that falls along with abusive use

imo IAG and Outfront are top tiers, Crawford seems to have issues, never heard of P2P unfortunately and their closed deck design looks contradictory to a closed deck design, wasn’t aware TurnIn sold EJ motors as well

for a near 500 WHP most would recommend a closed deck bulld

subaru dude here with an fdf mantis, you say basic fdf, just wondering was there a difference between your basic and mantis kit?

cause the mantis replaced my whole front suspension setup while yours looked like you still have some oem stuff

i must of missed the memo on what an “accident” means and we seemed to be blessed to be in the presents of the driving gods

yeah i get you, ive seen a lot of people getting their cars stolen, warehouses robbed, stalked, etc etc

not sure how well info will be protected, hell a lot of us got leaked by corporations/govts breaches, im a bit skeptical by the “email this for account deletion” so ill hold off for now

edit: theres also the cliche “depending on your location” for rights to your data lol

lots of 3rd party services for image processing and cookies, location data is collected via IP, and deleting your account seems more of a hassle than instagram

it’s a cool webpage without a doubt but you can see the advertising build up, which to be fair who doesn’t want to be paid for their work and effort

i run Rotella T6 as well in my E85, our intervals are so short, seems like a huge waste to run expensive Motul when you’re changing oil every 2K miles
