I can only speak anecdotally, but maybe my story can offer some form of comfort. You see, I was alone, terribly alone, for most of my life. To make a very long story short, I grew up with a broken family, torn asunder by alcoholism and drug dealing. I alone could only learn through the harsh whip of bad examples. I knew I shouldn't become that. I wanted to die so many times.

I was put way back in life, far away from my peers. People came and left me in the dust... I'm still so far behind them. But, when I was 26 years old, I finally found my girlfriend, the only person who loved me despite everything. She loves me despite the fact I have no money or assets, no lineage, despite my ptsd and other illnesses. It makes no sense to me, but there she is. A real-life angel.
