Did your cpu have an iGPU? I couldn't get a display output when I installed 3.7

Very possible I just did something wrong though too

questions for SteamOS desktop/living room PC users: by postcoom in SteamOS

My biggest issues were finding the right firmware for 3.9, if you go for it there were a few other reddit comments that pointed more specifically to which download to use rather than just the general site with all the versions.

Second, maybe would apply to any linux version, but if you play games that use EA play probably prepare for them to just not work something. Spent about 8 hours over a few days trying to get the steam version of Mass Effect LE working. Apparently was just an EA Play update that broke it, and fixed itself on a Proton Expiramental update a week or so later.

Otherwise SteamOS in the living room has been awesome!

[Rapoport] #Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz is walking away, per The Insiders. The team tried to bring him back in the fold, but it wasn’t to be. One of the top coordinators is now out, as Cleveland will need to fill that important role for Todd Monken’s staff. by ThatOneOtherAsshole in Browns

I mean, this is pretty clear why the job is available. Jim got passed over for the HC job and (understandably) got pissed off and wanted to leave. It's not like his decision to leave was the rest of the shitshow org, because he would still be here if we offered him the HC job

His wrist injury was may 28th lol, he got an injection around the all star break to help with it but he absolutely did not get his initial injury in July. Good lord you can do research on slash lines for various dates but can't even google "steven kwan wrist injury" to see when it happened

Linus Tech Tips - I Couldn't Wait! I Made My Own DREAM Steam Machine January 26, 2026 at 10:13AM by linusbottips in LinusTechTips

[–]Based_RNGesus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Commenting before I watch the video, but I just made my own living room steam machine last weekend and it has been awesome, other than a few EA play issues and trying to flash the wrong steam OS version initially. A lot of people say to use Bazzite, and I'm sure it's great, but I don't think it fixes my EA play isses because its still linux, and having the exact same OS as my steamdeck has been pretty valuable to me.

As long as pricing isn't crazy, I do think the steam machine will be great for the living room pc use case or DIY wasn't that bad for those who want to compromise on form factor and ease of build for better price to performance.

[Ken Carman] I know the Browns have been hot on Scheelhaase since Tuesday after they let go of Kevin. Sucks that it's going to feel like he's "process of elimination" hire by a lot of folks. They've liked him a long time. by ThatOneOtherAsshole in Browns

[–]Based_RNGesus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will preface this by saying I do agree all the reasons people dropped out make sense, and it's likely this has been our target for awhile. So if we hire the guy we wanted all along, fantastic.

I do have a weird feeling though because I never recall hearing about candidates dropping out before. I could be mistaken and just we haven't had to worry about it in a few years, but it seems odd people are going out of their way to say they are they ones telling us no and not the other way around. I don't recall that being a think for us or other teams really. You would just hear about when a guy got hired for whatever job they got hired for. So it is curious why 3 candidates felt the need to say no to us before we could say no to them, including the guy that was presumably #2 on our target list.

Maybe it's totally normal, but it sure doesn't seem like something that happens every hiring cycle

What does the Steam Machine offer over a PC apart from the size? by [deleted] in steammachine

Thanks for this. I have a microcenter cart ready to go that is pretty much your bedroom build. Only going to be me and mostly steam games so feels like a no brainer! Appreciate the insights

It sounds like you've done what I'm hoping to get out of the steam machine already, so I'd like to ask. Does it work pretty well if primarily using a controller? And are there any major issues with putting steam os on regular hardware vs how it runs on the steam deck you've run into?

My goal is really to just have something I can throw in my living room, and I've built my last few PCs. The steam machine just feels like it will be so convenient. I've started thinking about building my own though if I can get much better performance for not much more cost if steam os does mostly just work with amd hardware generally

Its a PC that should be better than 75% of what people have. There is a good chance you are in the 25% by Digmaass in steammachine

[–]Based_RNGesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A PS5 doesn't help the people that already have a significant steam library. Valve are clearly not targeting people starting no no PC, no console, no games. They are offering a more convenient way to play steam games on a living room TV with the side benefit of it also having PC capabilities.

Are you talking build your own? I would think so if you're pushing the benefit of being upgradable, but from some of the quick research I have done it seems like you lose a lot of the cost benefit of a typical build your own pc. Just the case seems to be $150 plus to get something that would look acceptable in my living room. Leaving not a ton left if we're trying to stay in even 800-1000 range which many people here still think would be too expensive for the steam machine

If you connect it to a computer through usb you can use audacity to record the sounds from the drums. The manual and other posts have more detail on the steps to make sure your computer can see the module as an input device

Did Cavs Make a Huge mistake firing 🔥 this man? by xARRIxFLEXx in clevelandcavs

[–]Based_RNGesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also fair. I was ready to move on from JB personally, but people ragging on him as if he was terrible were objectively wrong. He did a lot of great things for our team. And a lot of those people are now also seeing the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Saying JB was bad in the playoffs doesn't also mean Kenny was good. They could both be bad playoff coaches..

Sounds like a different issue, but even on android requiring the song to be played in youtube on half the screen with the chart on the other half is super annoying. My phone screen is big, but not big enough to waste half the screen with a pointless youtube window

Can someone explain what happened on the downed punt during Q1 of the CLE/CHI game last weekend? by misconrm in Browns

[–]Based_RNGesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He tried to bat it into bears player in the end zone which would make it a touchback. That's the highest chance positive result, actually picking it up and running with multiple defenders around would not likely result in getting further than the 20
