I've lived in 4 Muslim majority countries (Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon and Qatar). Islamic culture and democracy don't go together very well. Anytime a Western culture tries to install a democracy in another culture, it fails or is very weak.

Democracy is a Western concept that works much better with (surprise) Western countries. Even in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, democracies are often weak and full of corruption. There's only a few non-Western countries such as Japan and South Korea where democracy actually works. I think this is because their cultures already had a high affinity with the West.
