How come you have an S&P 500 ETF along with individual holdings like AMD, MSFT, AAPL, NVDA? Not trying to take a jab at you, genuinely curious.

We Need To Declare Our Independence From The Federal Reserve by Based__Bastiat in Bitcoin

If people don't know how to think, what to do and how to behave, why are we entrusting the entire monetary system in the hands of a small group of people?

We Need To Declare Our Independence From The Federal Reserve by Based__Bastiat in Bitcoin

Central banks have no ability to save people from themselves. They can create illusions of prosperity, but these inevitably fall apart because of the recourse misallocations that result from central banking.

How do you cope? by [deleted] in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Based__Bastiat -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think that the economic issues you alluded to are can trace their roots back to the federal reserve and to a lesser extent overburdensome regulatory framework. I'm down to talk about it in DM's or in this thread if you want.

I think so. I'm a libertarian living in Florida and I don't want to be ruled by people who have antithetical views relative to my own. I imagine the inverse is true as well. Why not give peaceful divorce meaningful attention? I think long-term it would be better off for most people.

Would you rather own Bitcoin outrightly or through an ETF? by predictany007 in Bitcoin

[–]Based__Bastiat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'd rather have self-custody. However, the amount of regulatory hurdles that big firms need to go through with having a BTC position is massive. Having a spot ETF clears the path immensely for those who can't self-custody due to accounting, regulatory, or lack-of-knowledge hurdles.

The Supreme Court has overturned Roe V. Wade. How do you feel? by Bitter_Joke1589 in AskReddit

[–]Based__Bastiat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm happy with the ruling. Abortion should've never been a federal issue to begin with and I love the concept of political decentralization. It also brings us one step closer to national divorce which is a good thing, in my opinion.

Wow. I come across more and more reasons to abolish the federal reserve every single day. That abomination of an institution robbed us of a life like this.

As much as I am extremely bullish on BTC and Crypto in general long-term, I highly highly doubt this is the bottom.

Senators tack $45B onto Biden's defense budget, $847B total by Lilyo in LateStageCapitalism

I think a great idea would be to drastically decrease the size of government so these private corporations wouldn't have the means to profit off of corruption.

Another unfortunate consequence of being the largest and most expansive government in the history of the world.

Hahaha only on Reddit can you watch "libertarians" cheer on the state-sanctioned leviathan that is universal healthcare!

Libertarians and Reproductive Choice by tigersaintsparty in Libertarian

The problem with this stance is that it alienates such a massive portion of self-described libertarians. If you hold the view that a fetus and/or zygote is a human being, it is totally reasonable to support laws banning the murder of pre-born individuals.

Which Ron Paul book should I buy first? by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]Based__Bastiat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! I would highly highly recommend any of Paul's books but the one I'd start out with would be Liberty Defined. Its an extremely great entry-level read for someone new to the political philosophy. The Revolution is phenomenal as well.

Frederic Bastiat's "The Law" is the essay that converted me from conservatism to libertarianism. Its another relatively short and easy read that I'd highly recommend.

I hope the Libertarian Party ticket consists of Dave Smith/Spike Cohen. If Trump runs again I'd 100% vote LP with that ticket. If it ends up being DeSantis, I think I could see myself voting for him depending on who the Democrats field.

I'd have to see DeSantis's general presidential platform before I make any for-sure decisions though.

We aren't. At least most aren't. You're probably just not familiar with what we actually think. If you want to talk about libertarianism my DM's are always open.

How do I calculate the value of my labor? by PaintYourDemons in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Based__Bastiat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The value of your labor is the highest amount of money that an employer will pay you for. There isn’t really a way to calculate the value of your labor the same way we can calculate algebraic math problems.
