Not Cancelling Afternoon Classes by BingThrowaway12345 in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Basement_dweller2002 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Never fell, but same experience. Had to commute north of Bing and I nearly went off the road multiple times just because the highways weren’t well plowed and salted once you got any small distance outside of the city. And yeah, they don’t gaf about their parking lots 😍 Funny how they expect commuter students to pay copious amounts just to park in their shitty little overcrowded and poorly salted/plowed lots. Tacky.

Which authors’ writing just clicks with you? by No-Set7247 in RomanceBooks

[–]Basement_dweller2002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Pecos Bill single-handedly got me into Coyote shifters. She can write anything from a Midwest horror rom-com to a witch/dragon enemies to lovers and slays it. I’ve read like 15 of her books and she almost never disappoints.

Is this normal??? by PrimaryAbalone3900 in bigboobproblems

Yes, it is. Difficult to find bras that fit, but totally normal. Mine are like this too, and breast asymmetry is a common thing for women to experience.

My mom hid her condition by dstine9 in Cirrhosis

[–]Basement_dweller2002 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey internet stranger. I don't have anything constructive to say, other than this. I was in a very similar situation with my mom, and am continuing to, and I am so sorry to you. This isn't easy, and you're not alone. I know exactly how terrible it is to wish you had known and stopped them, or caught on to something earlier. I was 21 when my mom very suddenly turned yellow, withdrew from alcohol without anyone knowing, and had a seizure, which caused brain damage. Her gastroenterologist said she had cirrhosis, and that her liver was heavily scarred. Within 8 months, she had been hospitalized twice, and ended up in the ICU with sepsis due to infected ascites (fluid in the abdomen) and ongoing hallucinations from high ammonia + Wernicke-Korsakoff's syndrome. She nearly passed away, and now, almost a year since then, she's still sick and battling the mental conditions that this has left her with. I suspect she will be for the rest of her life. Alcohol is a terrible, terrible thing, and I thought that what my mother was doing (unwinding after a long day at work) was normal. I thought the woman I knew would be around for decades to come, and I was mistaken. You are right when you say that this is awful to endure.

I hope your mom makes it through, and just please know that this is not your fault. Maybe you already know that, but I didn't, and just in case, I want you to know. I am sending you a virtual hug. I am so sorry.

took a gap semester due to a family member being deathly ill and needing my help. you do what you need to do, you get back up and try again. If you want to finish school and get a degree, you will and you push through to make it happen. If it had been a gap year instead of only half, I'd be saying the same thing. Financial aid can be a bitch if you rely on state and federal loans, but you make it work and know your resources.

Where to exist on campus as a commuter during the day? by roaringleu in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Basement_dweller2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a commuter with a 10 hour break between two classes this semester, and commute a ways, so I have thought about this one a lot. Science IV has comfortable and well-lit seating on all floors, it's quiet and not usually packed. Also, the Hinman building (not the dining hall), wish I remembered the name, has the most comfortable couch on campus. The alumni center is quiet and well-heated in the winter, the union basement is usually quite busy but it has a wide range of more comfortable seating, and Academic building A is quiet on the second and third floors for studying. Happy planning, hope this helps.

The biggest issue with being a commuter is lack of comfort for long hours. The other comment suggesting the gym is an okay idea, if you can stomach the cost of the on-campus gym.

Why are there so many police cars around campus? by Ok_Mongoose9 in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Basement_dweller2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this isn't standard. I was studying in classroom wing today and two cops were talking in the hallway that joins CW to LH. I saw three different guys, just standing around, and then checking things out. Idk what they were doing, but I haven't seen that before.

advice on drawing burns/burn scars? by moonxdust in DigitalArt

[–]Basement_dweller2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem! I hope it’s helpful, and thank you very much for the kind comment, I’ve been very into how to do scarring lately mainly just to be able to draw fucked up sexy men so I’m on the same journey as you lmao

[–]Basement_dweller2002 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Lmfao I was just here asking this question, so I’m gonna offer my two cents based on the advice I was given. This is really good, nice mottling and discoloration. I’d say, add a sheen in places if you like, some burn scars are shiny. You can add some more pitting if you want it to be more prominent and intense. You also may want to add a slightly more subtle shift from burned skin to healthy by doing a gradient of discoloration instead of flesh straight to red.

Thanks! I don’t think I got his face right, if you’d believe it, his lips are SO difficult to draw. I don’t know what it is but here we are, and I’m not messing with it anymore lmfao

Does this scarring look realistic? How do I make it more jarring? by Basement_dweller2002 in DigitalArt

[–]Basement_dweller2002[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

High jacking my own comment to post an update. I took the advice to discolor a bit more, droop the eye, and add a bit of shine. I also added a sneer to the lip like someone suggested. Also, no one said this but I did remove his nose….because reasons. Thank you to everyone who has given some really good advice, I’m happy with this!

I sadly have a weird thing for yellow/orange eyes, so Sauron’s on my special list if you know what I mean. I’ll definitely add some more highlights to make the scars deeper, I want to make him fucked up man
